Quest Games Optimizer is running a 50% off sale. I bought it last year and used it on both the Quest 2 and Quest 3 with great results.

This is an unofficial piece of software that runs in the background on your quest and lets you unlock additional CPU power, run higher quality of textures, specific FPS Targets, Resolution, etc.. of existing Meta Quest games.

https://anagan79.itch.io/quest-games-optimizer

Works great on both optimized ("Enhanced for quest 3") and non-optimized games (designed for Quest 1 and 2 but never updated).

It sounds a bit complicated but you can install it within about 5 minutes, and you only need to do it once.

You can use either pre-made profiles for games or create your own customized ones

I keep reading how it is dangerous to give all these permissions to a closed source app.

I've heard good/bad things

I also hear SideQuest is free

I know the "permissions" thing was an issue earlier on, but it sounds like Sidequest requires similar permissions. I'm really not sure on that, just repeating what I've read.

With that said: Sidequest can do what this does.. the difference here is that Quest Games Optimizer runs directly on the quest and can auto-launch/auto-apply profiles whenever you play a game.. With Sidequest it's a manual process where you need to send ADB commands to the quest to set specific resolutions each time, and all is reset once you reset the headset.

I held off on Quest Games Optimizer for a bit before chancing it, and haven't had any trouble, but good call on pointing on the permissions thing in case it's a bigger deal for others

I use this on my Quest 2. Staggering difference in quality. Each game has sliders you can adjust to increase cpu / resolution / etc. After using this, it feels like so many Quest games have been underclocked for longer battery. This really gets things looking better, less blurry / choppy.

Has anyone compared this with Ocular Migraine? It's an open source toolkit that comes up in QGO discussions, but I haven't seen much head-to-head comparison.

I hate this app even though I've never used it. The dev definitely has 10s of accounts shilling on Reddit. Whenever someone question anything about it they would get downvoted.

Such a turn off. I wouldn't even give it a try.
If it's such a great software Meta would've implemented it. No need to shill on Reddit.

this is one the best apps for the quest 3, it makes games look wayyy better, yes it drains the battery faster but that's why I keep an external battery at the ready lol

Yeah, fully agree.. I wasn't a believer at the difference people were claiming until I finally tried it last Year and it's become easily one of the most essential core apps. Its very easy to use and the difference on some games is legitimately staggering when you go back and forth a couple of times.

Despite the tutorial I cannot get ADB to be enabled. Frustrating to say the least.

I felt the same way, I felt it was the developer just shilling because every comment was nothing but praise -- but I bought it about a year ago, and it's surprisingly worked very great.

I think that Meta did eventually 'unlock' some of the additional CPU power of the Quest 2 after a couple years, but they probably want to play it safe by not letting people overclock games and set resolutions themselves for fear of a lawsuit or anything. I'm personally happy it exists, but I absolutely understand the hesitation since I was the same way.

Signed,
Not the developer

Unfortunately, no - it will upscale the UI of the video players, but the videos themselves are always going to be at their fixed resolutions. Skybox will look the same with or without it

Try resetting the quest, I've had issues with ADB in the past and a reset seemed to fix it.

I think the way I did it was by connecting to Sidequest and just enabling it there -- but if you have the application installed (not sure how far along you got), if ADB errors out, there are a few other ways to enable it without a computer, in the headset itself
