For anyone curious, the P1S+AMS combo is $50 cheaper than "normal." I paid $849 at the end of August and this would total $798 for the same.
I just bought an a1 combo last night and saw this this morning. Luckily they honor price adjustments if you receive your order after October 5.

also, see: https://us.store.bambulab.com/pag...ns?skr=yes which details actual prices.

X1 series:
X1C Combo $1199 ($250 discount)
X1C $999 ($200 discount)

P1 series:
P1S Combo $749 ($100 discount)
P1S $549 ($50 discount)
P1P $449 ($50 discount)

Limited Offer for all P1 series:

For all A1 series:

Honestly it sounds like you can't go wrong with Bambu printers, probably just get the most expensive one in your budget. I have several other older 3D printers and just ordered an A1 (no hands on experience yet, but highly recommend from a friend). If this is your first the A1 mini should be a good entry point if you're cost sensitive, but you'll likely outgrow it quickly and want a larger print area. If you can afford it the A1 combo which has a bigger print area and comes with the AMS lite to print multiple types/colors of filament should be something you can keep around for a long time even if you eventually want to upgrade. The key benefit of the P1S or X1C over A1 are that they are enclosed so you can print more exotic materials, but 99% of what most people print is PLA or PETG which the A1 or A1 mini excel at.

The sale is till 12/2. Is there any incentive to buy it ASAP, vs waiting it out and buying before 12/2 ? Perhaps some coupon or cashback offer comes which sweetens the deal further ?

Any good places to look into for that info?
https://bambulab.com/en/compare

This lists the differences. Although like I said, you can put the hardened gears/extruder on the P1S, and someone sells a plug in resistor to trick it into upping the bed temperature past 100C. Then it will run any material as good as the X1C.

Almost everyone (especially if you are just looking into starting this) only prints with PLA or PETG, which the A1/A1 mini run perfectly. The materials that need the enclosure/higher bed temps have higher heat resistance/stronger/etc (depends on what material). But again, all the little figures or toys people make/stuff for around the house is typically PLA or PETG that the cheaper ones will run perfectly.

My first printer was a flashforge. Tons of issues and no possible way to resolve them. I recently got the A1 and it's gotten more use in 1 month than two years of my flashforge. Just get an A1, the savings a different printer offers is not worth it if it's annoying AF to use
Which model FF? My 5M has been 100% trouble free.

For those considering the A1 Mini or even the A1 I would suggest looking at the current deal on the Flashforge 5M for $240
https://slickdeals.net/f/17824917-flashforge-adventurer-5m-3d-printer-ebay-239-20
The 5M's print area is between the two Bambu printers (180^2 vs 220^2 vs 256^2). It's a Core XY printer which is helpful in cases where the Y axis shaking of a typical bed slinger would cause delicate prints to fail. The 5M is fully network capable (wired and wireless via Klipper). I believe it's faster than the Bambu printers though any speed difference is going to be small. The FF 5M does have a nice ability to grow as the company provides parts and files to print/build an enclosure for the machine.

The workflow isn't as smooth as Bambu's if you want to create an account with Bambu. If you don't like sharing your data with yet another company then both companies support the more traditional work flow where you download/create the files, slice them locally and then either thumbdrive or network to the printer. Note that the 5M's network printing was originally limited to the easy to use but limited feature Flashforge slicer. However, after launch then updated the Ocra Slicer profile to include full network support. Thus, as far as slicers are concerned both Bambu and FF are using slicers based on Prusa/Orca slicer. If you want to thumbdrive it, the FF 5M does it via USB vs SD card. A down side to the 5M is it does not have a multi-material unit.

So if you are in the $200-300 price range I think the 5M is a printer that both nicely splits the difference between the A1 Mini and A1 while also providing some outright advantages over the A1.
I think your missing the point of why people get a Bambu, it just works and keeps on working with no tinkering, unless you want to. A couple dollars saved is not worth the headache of trying to fix or sort out issues with a printer. Most people want a 3d printer thats like their computer printer (simple, easy to operate, and no tinkering). They just want to drop in a file and have it print—and with Bambu printers, this is as close as you can get. Will their be hiccups (yes) but the community, youtube, and Bambu support will have it covered.

Already have the X1C with 2 AMS. Tempted to buy the A1, but I think I'll just stock up on filament.

That's mostly what I wanted to know. Thanks!

How are you storing the units? Since they are rounded, it seems like a pain in the ass to store them. If the cover wasn't flat, maybe you could stack them.

I think you are failing to understand that Bambu Labs isn't the only option for "just keeps working with no tinkering". The FF has been zero headaches, zero.
I think the idea here is that Bambu labs was the first to get functional prints with next to know tweaking out the box. Though there support is terrible. Definitely rated on the low end on after sales support.

Think of it like that terrible lack enclosure. It worked so people will continue to swear by it.

I'm assuming by FF you are talking about flash forge?

Yes, FF=Flashforge. I've been very happy with my 5M. While I had good luck with my Ender V3 SE, the 5M is just better. The big difference is the SE required some tweaking of the auto Z-axis. The FF always gets the first layer right. Another difference is I had a few print failures with the SE that were due to a flexible print deforming/shaking as the Y axis moved. This resulted in some support trees catching the print nozzle and falling over. Perhaps tweaking the Z axis step when transiting might have helped. Either way, the FF doesn't have that problem since the print bed doesn't move quickly (Core XY). I also like that a full enclosure for temperature sensitive filaments can be printed/assembled and works well. So long as I'm mostly working in PLA the open frame vs open bed slingler isn't really an issue. However, if I move this into a separate area (worried about air quality with all printers that lack filtration) then I can start printing the more temperature sensitive stuff (ABS etc).

Bambu is the 800 pound gorilla with a huge community behind it, including endless mods. Flashforge is not a comparable brand in 2024. It's not even in the same ballpark. There's a very good reason for this. Bambu singlehandedly stole the crown from Prusa. Prusa has great support, but you pay A LOT more for their comparable printers to Bambu, and they don't even have ABS-capable enclosed printers out of the box, much less one's that's ALSO core XY AND has a working out of the box MMU or $750! The game has changed. Even if you aren't doing multi-color, the AMS still is worth buying. Ask any owner.

I personally would not buy any printer anymore that doesn't have an OEM MMU solution that works which basically leaves...Bambu?

Glad you are happy with your FF, but you'd likely be just as happy, or happier with a Bambu.
