Need it to get close to $1k range for it to bite. Perhaps next year.

Actually this 3xxx is capable of 11.4 so a step up.

4 Atmos speakers should be mandatory if you're gonna move up to object based soundtracks to make it worthwhile in my experience.

4 subs is not odd.
They are ideal for optimal performance from the better RCs.
Having setup a few, it's pretty impressive.

I would do it but my two are pretty optimal for my layout and wouldn't add enough for the cost.
4400 and 3800 are same in terms of 9 amps but can process 11 channels.

Agree 2 Atmos speaker do not do justice, running 5.4.2 and happy with the results.

Maybe as refurbished but new unlikely.
Even the 3800 barely hits that price!

Wish the numbering makes sense, why is this the 3800 vs older models being 4400. Is the 8 indicating 8K video?

I was curious since I have the x4400h still going great and this 3800 seems to have even more features so not clear why it starts with a 3 instead of a 4?

Good price!
The first number is the Series#, higher Series# = more features and more expensive. The second number is the Generation#, a higher Gen# = newer model.

The 3800 in the op is one series lower than your 4400 and a few generations (years) newer than your 4400.
