In my mind the prices start at double what they should be, and a 50% sale would make it what the price should be, and not even a sale. So 20% still feels like I'm being taken advantage of by Lego.
It is what it is. This is the price they sell for and the market is willing to pay. Consider some of the "compatible" brands out there which usually sell for much less and in some cases are nearly as good as LEGO. I just finished building a couple VGD brand Speed Champions type kits. Both cars, $20. The fit and finish of the parts was very good. Overall engineering of the models was adequate, but not ideal. Many single stud connections that LEGO kits don't usually incorporate. Instructions were far from LEGO quality. But two Speed Champions type kits for $10 each... I don't regret the purchase. LEGO Speed Champions kits are more than twice that price, sometimes on sale for $16-$20 for a single car. There are several compatible brands avialble on Amazon. Read the reviews, then give one a try if you aren't comfortable with the price point of LEGO kits.

Not specific to this sale, but can someone tell me if Legos actually get real sales? My son is finally getting old enough to be into Legos. Legos are way over priced for what they are to begin with... then combine that overpriced item with what appears to be weak sales. Front page best sales on legos is 20% off, which doesn't feel slick at all to me.

I agree. I'm not sure who can afford these prices or have the space to put these when they are complete.

Lego pays their engineers and designers well to create interesting and dynamic sets. Yes, it's just plastic, but it took a lot of creativity and engineering to make that plastic fun. For me, it's mind blowing that my Legos from the 80's still fit together with modern legos. That's incredible manufacturing tolerances. That's worth it for me when I play legos with my kids.

You sound like you need to shop for Lego "alternatives" on Ali or T emu.

20% regular sale. 30% think about sale. 40% or more, great sale! But if you are looking for 40% or more sale, a few on sale like Little Mermaid (new movie), Encanto, Wish, they are at that range. Basically, sale percentage is based on sales and inventory out there. Heck, you are lucky to get 20% sale for sets you want. I mean, Office set in Lego site, it never go on sale.

I know people complain legos are expensive, but I have legos from when I was a kid in the 80's and aside from maybe needing cleaned are as good as new today and my kid can play with them. Legos also appreciate in value more than gold, so there is that as well

I used to use Lego for calibration cubes for tiny scale 3d video capture becaise their tolerances are so tight :-)
