In my experience sales of food on Amazon are pretty much always close to the best by date or have a damaged container (dented cans, etc.).

Don't buy...very common to get rancid ones from Amazon...spend a few more dollars if you can get them straight from Costco...not worth the headache...

No S&S option... That forces me to pass this deal.

Amazon Prime is a rip-off (for me).

I wouldn't expect foods with natural oils to hold up well in the warehouse heat.

Walnuts are pretty old by the time they get into Costco system itself..
One needs to look at the dates in the warehouse (varies a lot, expiry over a year after packaging), buy the freshest possible, and stick them in the fridge ASAP.
If you have the patience to soak in water and dehydrate, everything will be more better!

Also, Costco business centers sell walnut pieces in 5Lb bags for $12 or something, and are much fresher then these, for some unknown reason.

The fact that Costco has business center warehouses which carry entirely different SKUs, and are worth visiting was something I didn't know, until I did..

What benefits does soaking in water and dehydrating give them? Is that just for walnuts, or other tree nuts as well?
