Agreed. I have a coworker who spends $250 on sneakers, and has 200-300 pairs. Some people are into Warhammer or other action figurines.

Do whatever brings you joy, as long as it doesn't hurt other people.

But, I do have machine envy....

These things are 1) a hobby, and 2) art. I certainly wouldn't try to convince anyone that a $3000 coffee machine was worth the money, but plenty of people have spent that amount or more on a dumber hobby. Just depends what you're into.

I have started making espresso shots recently. I think the consensus in the coffee community is to spend more on a good grinder as it has a bigger impact on the quality of the shots. The grinder in this deal is a good one if you plan to spend around $1000 total. But if your budget is $3k, might be better off getting a grinder like Lagom P64 or Zerno Z1 and spend the rest on the espresso machine. Also, don't forget about the puck prep tools and bottomless portafilter. They can make a difference on shot quality.

@godzen
Crazy good deal. This one of the more common flagship consumer tier espresso machine. If I didn't have a gagguino and grinder I would've bought this instead.
However, you're still gonna want to buy a bottomless portafilter, tamper, scale, portafilter screen, distribution tool, and possibly a cup meant for frothing. Kinda a rabbit hole hobby, but worth it imo depending on how much you like espresso based drinks. If you want something cheaper and not as complex I'd get a bambino (considered the best entey level all-in-one) or a dual boiler breville.
You'll see the most performance from your grinder and shot consistancy.

This is actually a good deal, not sure if the site is legit. If you're into espresso and do research, you'll know this price range is actually normal. Of course it's not a must for everybody, depends on your own way of enjoying your coffee.

My own setups consist of WM Anita and Baratza Vario grinders. Both setups bought used for about $1K each and you can fairly easily replicate it today. This particular Letit, while also a E61 head, is better spec with dual boiler (I don't make milk drinks, though) and PID (pretty useful). Also comes with bottomless portafilter. Looks really nice with walnut accents. And the name is pretty well respected.

What I would possibly replace is the grinder, I think Baratza Vario is currently the best home espresso grinder and owning a total of 3 of them has made me impressed over the last 12 years. They can be found for $250 used. The Lelit included in this bundle is, supposedly, a very good grinder as well. Not getting into nerdfest on flat vs. conical and steel vs. ceramic, I suggest you read this review: https://coffeetime.freeflarum.com...ember-2023 and this little comparison: https://www.home-barista.com/grin...72537.html

So.. is this s good setup? Seems like it is. Is it worth almost $3K? Depends on your wants and budget, but it does appear like a very decent deal.

My opinions above are based on drinking espresso only, no milk-based stuff. It is also, hopefully, a counterpoint to $1 coffee genius and the likes above.

Pretty good deal if this is the model you have been shopping for. Not sure I would buy just because its a deal. When you are you are spending this much money you mind as well get what you really want. If you end upgrading 6 months later, you have not saved any money.

Looks like Kitchen Barista is no longer carrying Lelit and might be the reason for the sale.
Another way to look at the current deal:
- Machine itself is a couple hundred cheaper than other reputable vendors.
- The DF64 is effectively free

Overall seems like a good deal for something that rarely is discounted. Just hope you are happy with your purchase long term

I have a Lelit Bianca machine paired with a Niche Zero grinder. I've had great experiences with the Bianca over the last four years. It pulls great, consistent shots using a variety of espresso beans. Its rare feature is flow control (the paddle on top) which adjusts the rate of water through the puck. This feature is pretty unique and typically is only found on much more expensive specialty machines. Fancy folks can use it to run exotic flow profiles... or lazy folks like me can use it to save a shot by lowering/increasing pressure mid-pull if your grind size was off.

If you're spending big $$$ on a machine, you need a good grinder or else you'll be limited by inconsistent/bad grind quality. The price seems good for this espresso machine, but I'd suggest researching the grinder in case it's bad or you don't want to go through the effort of selling the grinder to upgrade.

Does your $1 coffee come with DF64 Gen 2 DLC Burrs? No, so please move on to the the economy area. I personally am waiting for the DF128 Gen3 AI with expansion pack.
