Doesn't the plastic dry out, causing the line to break off prematurely? I've soaked trimmer line in water to combat this.

You'll probably be alright, but spinning the literally heavier line will put a strain on the motor. I guess it will depend on whether the manufacturer left a margin for the motor, or, it's operating near it's limits with the OEM .065". One thing is certain, heavier string, cordless trimmer, each charge will last a shorter amount of time.
The strain from the rotational weight difference (literally on the order of grams) is negligible compared with the work of the trimmer head against weeds. You're likely to see a bigger weight difference between line material than from a 0.015" gauge difference. Ability of material to cut through weeds will make the difference in battery life, not these minutiae.

Perfect timing. Just ran out of my 800' spool and picked up the Speed DuraCore spool and a .105 Arnold blade lines pack. Good to go now again with my FS131 that loves to eat string with the torque.

Trimmer lines are made from plastic. It's common sense that plastic does not absorb water. So water/humidity has no impact. Temperature will harden or soften it. So store it indoors where temperature is controlled.
It literally says on the package to soak the line to prevent premature drying out and breakage

This. Glad I didn't have to comment that. If you soak your spool in a bucket of water, you can revive the line. Repeat as necessary. Had a landscaper friend who would keep a 5 gallon bucket in his trailer for this purpose.

I do heavy brush cutting on the side with a FS131R and FS130 with bike handles. The best line I've found is MaxPower Twisted, .105 and .130 if you have a 36-2 head. The MaxPower line is slightly oversized and you can buy it at AutoZone and home Depot. Well worth the extra money, your machine will love it!!!

These lines are garbage compared to echo black diamond. Copped on clearance for even less before and still not worth the hassle

Oh boy, someone better tell the 3d print industry that they are just selling snake oil with their filament dryers.

I've experienced this but never thought to soak it in water. Might be a genius move!

Regardless, I bought the longest spool before and, since I don't have much to maintain (and/or I'm just too lazy to get out there as much as I should), I've found that what's left of my 5 yo spool doesn't last long at all. I mean, I'll go through a 6' piece in what feels like no time at all.

This time I'm going for the shorter spool and will try your soaking trick. I'll soak my old spool, too, to see if it makes a difference.

Edit: there seem to be a lot of awful reviews. I'm willing to give it a try for this price and will return it if it doesn't outdo my five yo line.

I've been using Gator line, but just pulled the trigger on this since my roll of Gator is running a bit low. Worth a chance for $5.33 after tax
