Doesn't the plastic dry out, causing the line to break off prematurely? I've soaked trimmer line in water to combat this.

Great price!! I nabbed these on clearance last fall for $3 a pop at Lowe's, but I'd have purchased now if I needed still!

Is it ok to put 0.080 in a 0.065? I see that 0.065 tends to break off pretty frequently as it is very thin in my cordless trimmer.

I did a little research in the opposite direction (i.e. putting my .065 in my trimmer that takes .095). From what I read, that was ok, you will just burn through more string, since it is thinner and the trimmer is more powerful.
However, I cannot see a reason why you couldn't go the opposite , i.e. .080 in .065, other than it might not physically fit the hole for the string, or whatever mechanism you use. Also, if you have a bump feed, it might be too thick to properly spool out. Otherwise, I cannot see why it would hurt anything.

Personally I do not think it matters...assuming it fits. The main concern I would have if the trimmer is auto feed (vs bump) then the heavier line might feed faster than being it would be heavier (in theory). Could lead to more waste but the line may also last longer too...so less waste?. But .015 is such an absurdly small difference (1/3 of a mm?) that manufacturing tolerance difference between brands might be greater than that even among two trimmer lines rated at the same physical size.

Perhaps trimmer spinning speed could also be impacted? The lines, again in theory, would weigh different amounts.

We might be spending too much time in the weeds talking about all of this LMAO2

What I am hearing about bumping up is that the motor would have more load with a higher thickness (keeping aside if the wire fits into the feed hole). I wanted to check if someone has done this experiment and their feedback. I appreciate your update.

I think it's the opposite, the line gets water (humidity) In in from the air, and that degrades it.

You'll probably be alright, but spinning the literally heavier line will put a strain on the motor. I guess it will depend on whether the manufacturer left a margin for the motor, or, it's operating near it's limits with the OEM .065". One thing is certain, heavier string, cordless trimmer, each charge will last a shorter amount of time.

Was about to buy some of the ugly twist line cause of the price but the reviews scared me off. Lots of people complaining about it not holding up well against anything but very thin grass and breaking up too easy. I think I'll just stick with the Gator line that's worked well for me before
