I guess returns are not accepted for these purchases unless there is some defect/ damage. Something to keep in mind. I learnt it the hard way
Points go 50% further, it's not 50% off. Here's an example of a $100 item:

10,000 points = $100
what amount of points (define as X) * 150% = 10,000?
1.5X = 10,000 --> X = 10,000/1.5 = 6,667
with 50% bonus, $100 = 6,667 points, a savings of 3,333 points (10,000 - 6,667)
3,333/10,000 = 33%, or a 33% savings

said another way:
normally $1 = 100 points, but with the 50% further $1 = 100/1.5 = 66 points
Old Price = 100 Points
New Price = 66 Points
Change = (New price - Old price) / Old Price = (66 - 100) / 100 = -33/100 = -33%
It's only when you have the Chase Reserve card when you received the 50% discount. Otherwise, if you have the "Preferred", you'll only received 20% discount instead of 25% as stated above!

WTH? The pricing for the iPhone 16 Pro is at retail price but $30 above retail for regular iPhone 16, which really negates the savings from the bonus. ♂️
$829 IS the retail price my guy.

To clarify. This is for the unlocked version, which is what you are getting through chase.

Not bad. MS cost for 75k points is about $450. Hard to beat that for a new 256gb iphone 16 pro.

I wanted to return it. I called the customer care and asked them for the return options. I was told I cannot return the item unless it's damaged or defective

Others have suggested this, but I'll be more direct/blunt. If you've got a Chase Sapphire Reserve card and...
  • You plan to book flights and/or a hotel in the next year or two
    • Up for doing a bit of learning & research on using airline/hotel points? Save your Chase points for that (transferring them later to supported airline or hotel partner programs).
    • Don't want to bother with that? Use your points to book hotels with points (booking airfare via Chase is a bit more iffy).
  • Aren't planning to travel in the next year or two?
    • Want to buy something recently released from Apple? This Chase points discount is probably a decent deal for you, so go for it!
    • Want to buy (probably less-recent) stuff from Apple that's often discounted? Then this is an okay but fairly meh points deal.
Which airline partner has good point redemption for economy flights?

Folks, if you have a preferred card, you can just upgrade to the Reserve to take advantage of the 50% more value of points. Order and get your items. Then downgrade back to the preferred card. They do give you about month or few before they charge the $550.
Last time I did this but just with my CSP and it took about 8 weeks to arrive so would be dicey if trying to receive it before the fee kicks in.
Also, l just paid my CSP $95 fee would they pro rate that somehow if I decided to keep the CSR?

I was confused because on the Apple website it didn't tack on the $30 until you select the "Connect to any carrier later" option but on the Pro models it doesn't tack on that $30 premium for connecting to any carrier. Thanks for pointing that out. I got you now pham.

I believe this accounts for a 33% discount .. Only good if you don't use your points on travel.

What are the advantages of using the chase rewards points for travel?

Yea I'm not sure why apple does that. I'm guessing 90% of people will just connect to their carrier anyways and the carriers give apple a small kickback for connecting them.

I don't fly to Zimbabwe, I usually fly to Tokyo on first class @ 10 cent pp. Biz around 5 cent pp.

And you can also get pretty good value for short haul US flight.

Example.
I am flying DTW to SEA main cabin on Delta this coming weekend .
Each ticket cost 18500 point + $5 USD. Chase UR convert to Virgin Atlantic has a 40% bonus since Oct 15 so you only need 13220 UR point for 18500 Virgin Atlantic point. The day I book the ticket (Oct 17) the price was around $300 USD for that flight so you are essentially getting

$300-$5 = $295
$295/ 13220 UR = 0.022
2.2 cents per UR point
Is there a site or a better way to find and calculate these deals?

What is the best way to use the points then? If you say travel, them know 2 things:
1) you get the same bonus or value for travel as this deal

That is not accurate.

It's the same if using the chase portal.

it can be much higher if transferring those points to airlines (where you can routinely get better than 1.5c a point for coach fares, and 3-6 cents a point for business fares, and 5-10 cents a point for first class.... or transfers to Hyatt, where it's pretty hard to not get at least 2 cents a point for hotels.)

Quote from WALIDA6912 :
2) the same trip or hotel or rental you book on the UR platform can actually be found cheaper in value of you were to book it using a different site (but you will be paying for it via credit card)

Again this is not accurate if doing transfers of points- which is the actual way to get best value- not the chase portal.

One should never buy apple products or any product at full price. I would suggest if that's the case maybe the new iPad 7 mini else everything else is trash.

Msrp is a huge scam
