What? A 14700F and a 4060 are $600 retail. Add a mobo, RAM, SSD, PSU, case, fans, assembly, packaging, transport, Acer profit margin, Walmart profit margin.

Sure, it should be $700

It doesn't "fix" the issue. It cripples the CPU so the ultimate failure takes longer to happen.

Watch the Intel 13th and 14th gen videos in Gamers Nexus and Level1techs YouTube channels.

It doesn't mean the CPU is unusable or will die in 3 years with the "fix" but I would treat these CPUs as disposable. I have a 10 year old desktop that still works. Don't expect that from Intel 13th and 14th gen.

Those who purchase this machine should update the BIOS as soon as possible. Version 1.03 (and newer) includes a fix for the voltage issues that cause self-destruction of Intel 14th-Gen i7 and i9 processors.

Look in the BIOS/Firmware section of the model's support page:

Yup. Intel farked up Gen 13 and 14, and there's no fix available, just undervolting.

I would expect "deals" on these computers would get deeper and deeper over time.

For $200 more ($999.99), Costco has this with 2TB SSD and 32GB starting on 11/18.

https://www.costco.com/.product.1815274.html

Is this Acer a better deal though?

If it's important to you, the Acer most likely has a proprietary motherboard and power supply, the iBuyPower uses standard parts.

I've never heard of a PC where the LED lights can't be switched off. Is that a thing?

You are correct except there is no Walmart profit margin
