I ordered both the fiberglass and aluminum one during last year's sale to pick which one I liked. For basic around the house maintenance, the aluminum is superior simply because it's easier to move around. Now, if you are more of a DIYer and work around electricity more, go for the fiberglass. For general purposes, save $10 and grab the aluminum.
Homedepot specs are incorrect.
Looks like this is 14.5 lbs and fiberglass is 18 lbs.

No platform is bummer for me. I feel more comfortable and safe with my foot full contact with the platform while working. Something like below

For homeowner use, it a fiberglass ladder better? for mounting lights, fans etc
Also what's a good height to choose to be able to reach garage ceiling for painting

IMHO yes. I have an 8 ft aluminum and a 6 ft fiberglass. Fiberglass feels less flimsy.

I am actually buying a fiberglass 6 footer for my daughter's town house. To me fiberglass is a no brainer for an extra 10 bucks.

Great ladder. Way way lighter than the blue fiberglass ones
The product specs say 6ft aluminum weighs 21.5 lbs whereas the 6ft blue fiberglass weigh 22 lbs

Correction - someone said the HD specs may be off. Disregard if that's true.

For 8ft sure the fiberglass might feel more sturdy. However, aluminum seems fine too. For 6 ft, I definitely go aluminum, its just lighter to carry around period.

Had ordered both aluminum and fiberglass.. went to store to check it out and aluminum felt too flimsy.. it looked worth 40, picked up the fiberglass glass one.. maybe doing some electrical work soon anyways..

Dang, I'm too fat for this. 250 lbs capacity puts me just under it. I prefer things holding me up to have a little more wriggle room, weight wise.

A fall, even from a short height, can be life changing in a bad way.
I'm 270 and was wondering if I could use this. Guess not.
