Get the DCV501HB from Home depot for $99. Its significantly better.

If you need this for a "wet" vac... at 2 gallons a towel is cheaper lol.

I don't have either (I have the combo battery/cord version of what's posted here), but these two are just very different. For compactness/portability, the DCV501HB is probably better, but it also has a much smaller capacity and doesn't include a battery or charger at that price (which may or may not matter).

The 1.5amp on a vac wont get you very far. They are very different but this is model is not the one even at this price.

Great vac but you'll want a bigger battery for it.

This is the model without the cord. I bought the DCV581H that is corded and cordless and I do recommend that one. This isn't made for large spills or cleanup and I don't use it for that. Just small jobs around the house. Worth it if you only need it for that.

Same price now at Lowes DCV501HB [lowes.com] has 46 CFM provides higher suction performance for more efficient clean-up vs the OP of 31 CFM

Thanks... I bought the other one yesterday and used it for 2 mins to suck out my condensation line...but now I see this one - you think I can return and swap without issue (I have receipts and everything). Still plastic and box!

I needed it for a quick basic operation for wet (condensation for ac is backed up with "bio slime" , even using liquids to help kill it it would come out so sucking it out with this was the only… and best option. The stuff to pour down the drain is super expensive so for $99 this will pay for itself within a year

Just bought the 580. Very good suction. My concern with the 501 is the small container coupled with the filter receiving all the dirt. I also like the flexible hose in the 580 that allows you to attach to a hand tool for dust collection. There are also filter accessories like foam sleeves that help you extend the life of your filter. Battery is also a bonus.
