Came across this looking through the Virginia Tech helmet testing site (https://www.helmet.beam.vt.edu/bi...tings.html). A low cost WaveCel on clearance. Which I've come to think is better than MIPS.

Sizes S and M out of stock, 3 colors. Mine came manufactured in 2021. That's of note if you believe in the 5 to 10 year recommended lifespan of helmets. Though maybe that's an in-use lifespan.

What evidence has led you to believe it's better than MIPS? This helmet scores worse than MIPS helmets on the Virginia Tech tests for preventing concussions.

MIPS vs Wavecel is independent of overall rating. Cost comes into play. If you want the best, it costs. The best $300 helmet is probably going to beat the best $60 helmet regardless. But in like price point helmets, I think Wavecel is superior from reading. For a $60 helmet to score 11.22 on the VT scale is a good deal. Wavecell appears to be licensed to Trek only, so we don't have the breadth of offerings as with MIPS. Koroyd MIPS seems to be going down the road of Wavecel, so maybe a nod to its effectiveness. Either way, much better than a straight styro helmet.
