Another factor to consider is that the regularly duty cabinets are 18" deep and the heavy duty ones are 24" deep. Depending on your gear that makes a pretty big difference.

I've been eyeing something like this for my garage. Any feedback on the quality of "regular" duty vs "heavy" duty? I was going to opt for heavy duty (even though I am a DIY guy) but not sure if its worth the extra money.

For me, these are cabinets I use momentarily and aren't worth the extra expense for heavy duty…and it's always quite a bit more expensive.
If you work in the garage all day with frequent trips back and forth, it's probably worth the plunge. I'd say mainly if you're at risk of tools colliding with these units — heavy duty will really help you out there. The regular duty doesn't take a lot of effort to leave a good dent - but positioning and what that risk is will be different for everyone.

Regular duty is 24 Guage. Heavy duty is 20 Guage.
The New Age Pro cabinets are 24 Guage.

For the average home owner/weekend warrior who just needs a way to organize stuff I think this is the most tangible difference that you might actually notice.
If mounting them in a smaller garage the depth will be a factor. Same goes if you are often working on the top of them.

I snagged the 7 piece regular duty (just has an extra tall cabinet and mine included the wood table top) for $838 shipped back in June. For an average home owner they've been fantastic. I store my chemicals, car detailing, some tools and random stuff in them. Plenty of space and feel solid. I need to get some accessories for the inside of the doors. But overall they were extremely easy to unbox and setup by myself.

Just a slight correction, the large cabinets that are 75 inches tall like these are 19.6 inches deep. The 72 inches tall cabinets are 18 inch and they do have a regular duty ready assemble (24 guage) that is 24 inches deep. For most regular duty cabinets though, are 18 inches deep like you said.

Dang that was a hell of a deal. I wish I jumped on those but I only have 110 inches wide of space to play with in my current setup. I wanted the heavy duty stuff just for the extra depth but the price different was to big to justify the need for them. I also considered the Seville garage cabinets which are 24 inches in depth and are reasonably priced but i did not like the color scheme they had and didn't match the rest of my garage.

Good point. 24in is better for things I need to store currently on a 3 shelf 4 post rack.
