We have this for my daughter and about to get one for son (still has box spring and slats). Hardest part used to be finding a bed skirt deep enough for 18" -- especially if you use it for storage, you probably want to hide your clutter unless it's in neat little boxes that don't look terrible. Also, toe stubbing becomes a pretty big factor with those tiny little metal pillars
(Edit: my mom uses small sections of foam pipe wrap or pool noodles around the legs)

It has a 4.7 customers rating yet Amazon also warns that it's frequently returned. Does anyone know why it's a frequently returned item?
I asked the Amazon AI search Q&A box why was this item frequently returned. Here's the answer:
"I don't have access to return rate data to definitively explain why this item is frequently returned. However, I can provide some insights based on customer reviews:
Many customers mentioned issues with the packaging and damage during shipping. Several found the frame chipped or with missing parts upon delivery. Another common complaint was the frame sagging or the legs bending over time, especially with heavier weight on the bed. One review mentioned the middle bars sagging, causing back pain.
On the other hand, many customers praised the frame for its sturdiness and ease of assembly. Some even mentioned buying it multiple times over the years, indicating satisfaction with the product.
To get a more comprehensive understanding of the return reasons, I'd suggest looking through the latest reviews on the product page. If you have any concerns about durability or specific use cases, it might be best to consult with the manufacturer or customer support before making a purchase decision."
Another use case: since the full frame is really 2 narrow twin frames connected, it seems that they could be stacked instead. If so, one could imagine purchasing 2 kits, then assemble and stack all the frames (with fiberboard or thin plywood in between.. would need angled braces for the feet), producing a very strong 78Lx27Wx72H 5 shelf unit for $100. Or not 😀

I've been using these for years, I probably have 5 of them now. The 18" is great not just for the height, but those 27 gallon black totes with the yellow tops fit underneath for storage! Great if you are in an apartment or something. I think I can fit 8 or so under the king beds.

rock solid, great for extra storage
no need for a box spring.
i think i paid $80 for this full 18" high.
i suggest you buy some nylon washers
and use them under all the wing nuts.
