16GB is adequate for the performance tier of the CPU, and it's a discrete GPU so none of that system memory will be dedicated to the display. Soldered RAM allows for higher bandwidth, lower latency, lower temperatures, and takes up less physical space than standard SODIMM RAM. It just makes more sense in a mobile form factor.

Why don't they offer this price through the Lenovo website?

Companies usually use eBay as an outlet for clearance items.

They did, around a month ago with a coupon that's no longer active. This time it's only through their official store via ebay.

I hate seeing soldered ram. This was ticking all the boxes in the price range with an OLED screen lol

You are right on all points, and I'd add that the manufacturer tunes the system to the specific ram chip capabilities to get more out of it
BUT
if someone is from the small group of users who plans on keeping the device for 8+ years of daily/heavy use, things are different. When the RAM stick/chip dies, they have no recourse

RAM is still playing key role. These laptops, although powerful in CPU and GPU, will stutter on RAM high usage.
For example, when open 3D cad apps, it takes up 14GB, then open just a few tabs of Firefox, says 5 tabs and play a YouTube clip, it will load (of course, no buffering, internet is fast and stable), but video will skip frames, or lagging.

Does anyone know if the RTX GPU can be disabled via user selection? I'm trying to minimize fan spin up - in particular Teams usage for video calls. It seems like all Microsoft products are CPU/GPU hogs these days.

I have been watching this specific laptop for over a month now and it wasn't quite this low. I've got lenovo credit on top of it as well. Did you see it hit 779?

Decent mid grade laptop at a mid level price. Wouldn't pay more for these though.

Any thoughts on this vs. the Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED (core ultra 7 155h) available at walmart for $750?

I think it was even lower with a bonus coupon that showed up during that sale a month ago, in the 6-hundreds. Then there was 10% back also from a CB site on top of that... Or maybe it was that low with the CB, don't quite remember

You think wrong.
The lowest is has been was $769 a month ago. I know because I posted that.
It must have been with CB not with coupons.

If I had seen all of that I would've jumped on this. As of right now with BF and Xmas around the corner I have to hold the line.
