Not usually one for survival horror games, but did like this one. My advice would be to forget the sequel even exists.

For me it was a gameplay thing. They added a stamina bar, you could only be out at night for a certain amount of time without finding a place with UV lights, and some other minor things I forget now. I also remember the plot being rather meh. Not to mention the whole, "Yay! We cured the virus from the first game! Nooooo! It came back somehow!"

I disagree
If you play the sequel today you'll enjoy the game just fine. The story has too many "choices" that ultimately don't matter but they don't ruin the game.

i feel like a clown, i bought this through fanatical for 7.50 bundled with another game (Hi-Fi Rush) a month ago
but maybe hifi rush made it worth it since the lowest i see for that was 15~
edit: mine was the definitive edition (i think with all of the dlc, so not bad)
