Great deal, especially with tax exemption. These are also on sale at Bose.com for $199, bringing them to $169.15 with military discount. More colors are available direct from Bose.

I upgraded from the QC35ii a few years ago and this new version is every bit as good sound and comfort wise, battery life is definitely better and I don't get the little random "tick" noises I got from the old model. At the time the only option was the lower priced version so I can't speak on the ultra model.

It doesn't matter. $149 price point won't happen sadly

Just picked up a pair at the lowest price I've ever seen for these headphones at the Military Exchange web site:

Great headphone I use daily. NC700 were a dud for me, and Bose replaced them even out of warranty for these and they have been pretty great.

Best headphones period even over the new Bose for my need
1. Really the last modern headphones with actual buttons. You can doze off, wear gloves without worrying about the touch buttons
2. The ONLY headphones that allow you to change input from the headphones which is HUGE and the reason I buy multiple pairs of these to hold onto. Let's say ur watching nfl on appletv but you are listening to a podcast on ur phone. Every other headphones you have to find a remote, go to settings, disconnect, on the Bose you can cycle from a button and just choose the iPhone for audio. Super convenient for me as I have like 5 devices connected and a lot of times I watch but listen to different devices. Am I explaining this feature right?

You need to be a Veteran or have a military affiliation, I can't lie about that with a good conscience.

It's verified by service number or SSN, you can't lie even if your conscience allows.
