FYI - Adorama sells out quickly for their guitar sales, and the backorders can run months. They're good about it; usually you do eventually get it, but order fast if interested for the best chance of getting one of the few in stock.

Of the last dozen or so I've ordered in the past year, I'd say that about half show up within a few days. ~35% get backordered for ages (I'm two months waiting on one right now) and about 15% result in the dreaded "we're sorry, this item has been discontinued and is no longer available."

In my experience the Adorama reps are nice, but will not swap the same axe in a different color if it's backordered or discontinued.

Unless you want a Bigsby and P-90s the (still active) G5220 deal for $259 is probably a better one. Especially for a beginner.

I'm somewhat surprised that there are more of these left. I bought one on the last deal and figured they would be gone pretty quick. Nice guitar for the price. I fitted out a dreadnought case with some memory foam covered in a micro fiber material, and it works great. The cases for a Gretsch ain't cheap.

the petrol color is cool. This is still a decent deal price, even though the last deal I got in on on the blue one was a steal.

Also purchased during the 259 deal. I'm still shocked at the super high quality of this axe. Even at this price, it's a great deal you won't regret, especially if you're looking for that P90 growl.

The Bigsby vibrato is, shall we say, not renowned for its tuning stability. While this one is prettier, it's also more complicated. And guitar is already hard enough for a beginner.

My first guitar had vibrato -- just don't use it 😁 I don't think anything on this guitar will add to the difficulty level for a beginner, just use it in its basic configuration. I don't think a guitar is like a synthesizer, where if you get one with a lot of features and bells and whistles you'll get overwhelmed and discouraged. If anything it's more the action of the guitar, and the width of the neck, that will impact the difficulty for a beginner.. and even then some people will purposely start on an acoustic because it's more difficult-- this isn't the kind of instrument that will stop anyone in their tracks. @NervousRain9121 Just pick the thing up and play it, and by all means, if the price is right then get the pretty one.

Made in china kills the deal and the $259 deal. Real gretsch guitars are made in Japan.

Which vibrato? A modern 2-point or even an old 6-point strat, fine. Unnecessary, but ok.

But I would never recommend a Bigsby or Floyd Rose to a beginner.
