This is a recurring deal, but a great one. If you were to buy the clamps individually, they would come out at $60. I got two sets from the same deal a few years ago and definitely have no regrets.

The OP characterizes these as 'economical design' which is correct. They have wooden handles rather than composite, and the throat is only 2.5". They are good clamps from a premium manufacturer, but you should be aware of those limitations. To put the price in context, a single 6" clamp with a 3.5" throat and a composite handle costs as much as this entire set!

I have 36 Bessey clamps of varying lengths. Awesome clamps but the pads deteriorate over time. I contacted Bessey and was promised replacements. After a month, I contacted them again and got 'I will alert shipping'. Another month, I contacted them again and this time, they ignored me.
I now use scraps of woods. grrr

Is it crazy that I like the original Harbor Freight/Pittsburgh blue clamps better than these? I haven't tried the HF ones in a while so this isn't buying advice, I just really like the old clamps I have more than the Besseys.

Having both, the hf clamps are just as good if not better. Both made in China. The old Jorgensen and Bessey clamps I got hand me down that were not Chinese made are a step up in fit and finish but not function.

I need clamps that also push apart not just pull together.

These are good bar clamps at a good price.
That said, I prefer trigger style clamps for quick work and parallel clamps for more serious jobs. Bar clamps and up collecting dust. Just my experience, others may differ.

Jorgensen parallel clamps can do this, they're reversible.

I have a couple of Irwin quick clamps, and the plastic plates that cover the springs and ratchet, often breaks, which means the whole thing falls apart when you clamp down. Is the HF ones any better?

I like quick clamps too but you can't get the clamping force of something like a twist knob.

With a little bit of work, practically any bar clamp can be turned from squisher to spreader by flipping the ends.

I got 6 HF clamps in 2006. I abused them beyond imagination. Rusted, twisted and some broken. Took them in 2023 to the store. Got out with brand new 6 clamps. No question asked, except manager whispered while approving the transaction to another employee "yeah, free stuff"
