Is the battery life on this close to a week before needing a recharge?

Depending on usage it could be 5 to 7 days.

After 7 days mine is typically down to 20-30% battery. Brightness: dim (plenty bright). Auto screen wake for 12hr/day. Quiet mode the other 12hr.

I'm trying to figure out if Fitbit or Garmin is better option for my dad who isn't tech savvy... all I need is basic function to track his steps and heart rate. So, a long lasting battery will be less hassle for him so he doesn't have to charge frequently... thanks

Look up Fitbit inspired three which is going for $70 at Macy's right now. It has a 10 day battery life (maybe even more if he's not interacting with it a lot) but you will lose the ECG functionality

I'm planning to buy too but I'm waiting for an offer to show up on Amazon or the Fitbit store where I can add a 2 year warranty because the Fitbit is not a good product I've faced earlier where my Fitbit Alta died after 1 yr of use.

Fitbit C6 has a great battery, what it doesn't have is a great HR monitoring after ~6 months of wearing (starting at 6mo mine started to lose HR frequently, it's only gotten worse (when working out roughly half the time I look at it it's not reading my heartbeat as we near a year of ownership.) Talking to the FB CS people was an exercise in futility (weeks between replies they say to reboot it, I reply that I did, our records show you didn't, *sends a video*, update the app, it already is (another video), then they closed the ticket for lack of response immediately after I replied a day after their previous one....

Garmin is a better CS experience but they have a lesser battery life depending on which model you get (the Forerunner 265 has a much longer battery life than the C6 but it's also much more expensive.) Garmin is also more of a watch fit which is less comfortable to sleep in (at least in theory, I'm cheap AF so I've only done FB and the chinese options until now - to replace my C6 I'm leaning towards a ring because they're better at consistent HR monitoring.)

Basically since google aquired FB the CS has dropped off a cliff (the c6 is my 4th or 5th Fitbit and will be the last) - if you need a constant HR measuring (especially when doing a lot of moving) look at anyone BUT fitbit.

I'm definitely not looking for anything expensive... but I thought if I could add $50-$100 more on top, it maybe worth it... I'll keep an eye during BF and see what comes up for sale... thanks

I double checked an older Garmin that came to mind and it's currently on sale at best buy and it might suit your needs (it claims 2 weeks battery life as long as you don't use gps, should at the very least tie the C6 in real life usage but I'd put money on it beating it) the Garmin Forerunner 55 for $170 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/garm...Id=6466525

But yeah, Black Friday would likely give more deals - good luck!
