Sweet! I've been waiting on a price drop. I just ordered one to replace my U8G and came to post, but you beat me to it. I also used my US Bank Cash Plus to get an extra 5% back.

Was about to get the 65" Sony Bravia 7 from Costco, w/ 5 year warranty, for $1400. This TV with 5 year warranty would be $1089 and now has me second guessing myself.

Anyone directly compare the two? Think they are similar but the Sony does a lot better upscaling which is important to me.

If you watch lower quality content...below HD..on a regular basis then get the Sony
If the majority of your watching is HD and UHD the Hisense will blow you away

BUT with the Hisense....dont obcess over viewing angle. It is poor on the Hisense. Literally after 20-30 degrees off angle the image degrades pretty quick
You will probably have a little occasional banding/posterization in scenes that have a broad screen of one color such as outdoor/landscape pictures

The viewing angle on the Bravia 7 isn't any better than the U8N. As you said, Hisense is no match for the Sony at processing and upscaling, but the Hisense latest 2 years (U8K/U8N) have been much better... especially since the 2022 U8H.

I own the 2022 U8H...and I also own the Samsung QN90a from the same year
The brightness and black levels are great on the Hisense..in fact better than the Samsung in regards to brightness

As I said before the picture processing , banding/posterization and off angle viewing is much better on the Samsung
Granted I paid more for the Samsung...so I have the right expectations

I would expect that 2 years later the picture processing and banding/posterization would have improved on the Hisense U8 models
I can not tell by looking at a store demo. But what I can is that the off angle has not improved

Yes, the off-angle viewing on the Hisense hasn't gotten any better, and isn't a match in that department for the 2021 Samsung Q90A with it's wide angle layer. However, the prior post was about the Sony Bravia 7... not the Samsung, and the Sony, after seeing it in-store, is not any better than the U8N in off-angle viewing.

Thats good information..I assumed the Sony had the wide angle filter

Based on that ..one might try to find a left over X93L from last year..or just buy the Hisense U8 as I assume they have made some steps forwards in picture processing since the 2022 model that I own

I am very undecided to buy this tv, it actually fell at a very nice price, but I still have LG B4 or C4 in my mind, I am not sure if it is worth giving this much money, or do you think the size of the tv 65 I mentioned will be discounted or should I give $300-$400 more and switch to OLED. just to play console games.(ps5 xs X)

$899 is the normal discounted price every year around this time. I would go OLED 100% now that burn in is basically a thing of the past.

Not sure, but I'm hoping the 1600 dimming zones in the 65U8N will be an improvement over the 132 in my 55U8G πŸ˜†. The huge amounts of blooming around subtitles on dark scenes was driving me crazy.
My use case and budget precludes OLED, so mini-LED is the next best option, and from what I can tell, this is the best model at this price point.
