So basic is just PLA which you can find on the wiki here
https://en.wikipedia.or
Manufacturers have begun using additives to their PLA to address shortcomings inherent with PLA. PLA+ is generally regarded as superior to PLA in all aspects but still retains its ease of printing. Rapid filament is for the high speed printers but not necessary if you have a standard speed printer.
Some hobbyist buy whatever is brand cheapest, others find a brand they like and stick with it. Some printers don't do well with the cardboard spools so that turns some folks off as well.
I tend to look for the bulk deals for PLA+ myself because I like to calibrate my printer profile for that specific brand and if I buy in a bulk lot they all often are within a similar spec so I can calibrate once or twice in a batch and be good to go.
Elegoo is regarded as a fine choice at the bottom of the acceptable tier. To be clear you can find cheaper brands from smaller companies or rebranded spools but what's nice about this is you have a reputable name that comes with it and peace of mind.

Once you add one to your cart, some of the dropdown options dissappear, so go back to the link direct if you want to mix and match and the dropdowns come back.
There's other brands of filaments that do this deal also. Just search for filament and they should show up - they usually put the buy # get # amount in the titles.
The Elegoo is selling out fast though.
Edit: went through after multiple attempts

Black OOS, that was a great deal for hobbyst people who just wanted a couple kg,
BULK BUYERS read: cheaper deals especially on color filament at aliexpress for as low $6 per roll
Aliexpress still has a better deal on 10kg bulk packages w/$5 off coupon for color geetech/jayo/kingroon (they seem quality to me) at ~$6-7.10 per kg, however if you want just 8kg from ebay the $12 elegoo color rolls 32% off come out to $8.15 per kg, which is worth it for people who dont trust/order off ali and want elegoo.
ofc theres some new sellers with the $50 per 10kg, i tried ordering, but it suspiciously said ti came 3 days later, fedex said they dopped it off, but no package....ali refunded me said it went to "wrong address" so go ahead and try yourself but too good to be true i guess? happy printing folks

Are those legit from ali? As in legit quality compared to real deal? (geetech/jayo/kingroon)
I honestly have gone through about 5-6 spools of these special discount brands. They all feel fine to me.
Hell, i had a spool of pla+ that sat there for 3 years! I dusted it, and slapped it back in. And it printef a bunch of household stuff fine.
