Read the series in high school. Great for beginners to high fantasy and LotR/GoT feels too sloggy/adult.

Book 1 is okay at best...but I'd recommend at least committing to reading Book 2 if deciding on whether or not to commit more time to the series.

2 > 1
3-6 is the real good stuff
7-10 is the boring stuff
11-14 is better than 7-10 but not as good as 3-6

Personally one of the best fantasy series there is. These are huge books (700 pages plus) but think they are totally worth it. It is a shame what they did with the show.

Just a note that he did indeed pass away but Sanderson took much of his notes and manuscripts and pieced them together for the last one. I thought it came out well.

Sanderson's books are ranked in the top half by most people though. So at least it was taken up by one of the best fantasy writers of all time, imo and completed the series well.

This Audible version is the absolutely most amazing narration I've ever listened to. Rosamund Pike is incredibly talented.

Yes, the TV show certainly is abominable.

They were well written, but it was clear Sanderson was limited to material outlined by Jordan before he passed and a lot of side stories got short shrift.

I really tried to get into this but it was such a slog I gave up. And I love LOTR.

One thing I miss about a long commute to work is listening to awesome audiobooks (although I think I wouldn't be able to handle the detail and complexity of this series in a car).

Absolute dog-shit misandrist drivel. I didn't hate myself enough to continue past the first book.
Glad you stuck it out there. 😂 It's a bit like reading the book of Genesis and giving up on the Bible because "I didn't like where it was going." And your criticism is way off. If anything, it's one of the more famously misogynistic large works of fiction ever produced.

My favorite series. It is a pretty good read. I was highly disappointed in the conclusion. It was a huge let down in my view.
