As a humidifier aficionado, this is my favorite for quiet performance and ease of cleaning. I've had Dyson and Vornado and this is definitely the best of the bunch.

I highly recommend the new Blueair when it's $99 instead because it's so much cleaner.

I got a couple of these when Amazon had a deal on refurbs. They are silent and the bluetooth/app feature is really convenient.

Nope. Top fills allow dust in, it also a wicking humidifier which are known for growths, which is why Blueair needed to add an "anti-microbial coating" to the wick to counteract that. Ultrasonic is simpler, easier to take apart, and easier to clean. No pumps, no wicks.

I don't care about this Levoit in particular, but all ultrasonic humidifiers are safer for people.

Owned a couple of these, they work great but don't seem to last very long before they start leaking (2 years only used mid fall to mid spring). They also get pretty nasty if you aren't committed to only distilled water. I use the humidifier fish which sort of help since I just use filtered tap water. Cleaning is easyish but there are quite a few parts that need to be disassembled, so I doubt many people go through all that trouble 1x a week like they recommend

You're supposed to replace the wicks for those types of humidifiers. Ultrasonics are pain in areas with hard water unless you're willing or able to use distilled water all the time.

Not sure how you can say an ultrasonic is simpler when a wick humidifier is literally just a wick, water tank, and fan.

Because, it contains fewer things than even that and is easier to clean. On both types you need to be using distilled water.
