I don't see XR in the description or on amazon! DEWALT 20V MAX 5 Ah Lithium Ion Battery 2-Pack (DCB205-2)
Thanks, I had copied a previous deal. Looks like it is still the same battery, just w/o the XR branding (the 5th pic on Amazon shows "New Look. Same reliable battery").
Are counterfeits from co-mingled inventory still an issue on Amazon?
That's not (and never has been) an issue for items sold by Amazon and shipped from Amazon. Amazon is a DeWalt authorized dealer. The issues of counterfeits were (and I believe still are) from third-party Amazon vendors.

False. I thought the same thing but this deal was run last week as well and I was shipped a two pack of clearly counterfit batteries and returned them. However another poster claimed to have gotten legit ones, so it's a gamble but they certainly co-mingle inventory.

These are the same 5aH batteries as before minus the XR logo. Seems like they made the shift in production sometime mid 2024 and every standard 20v battery will look like this moving forward.
DeWalt rebranded the power stack batteries as "XR" now.

In which case, you should report them the DeWalt and they won't be an authorized dealer for much longer!

Counterfeit items sold and shipped by item has definitely been a major issue in the past. Amazon has co-mingled their own inventory with the inventory from third party sellers fulfilled by Amazon.
I wish Amazon was more forthcoming about the steps they're taking to protect customers from counterfeits, but it seems that they'd rather sweep it under the rug and not draw attention to the issue.

I'm not an Amazon fanboy by any means and I fully agree that there is a significant counterfeiting problem amongst third party sellers, but it's simply not true to say they lack transparency in the way they are dealing with it.

Thanks for sharing, I appreciate all the links. That said, I clicked all of them and can't find any information about co-mingled inventory. And the brand protection feature does seem like it would help in this case, but DeWalt doesn't seem to be participating.
So I take your point that Amazon is trying to be transparent in certain aspects. But it still seems to me that on the consumer-facing side there isn't transparency about how to protect yourself against counterfeit products.

Like the above commenter, I remain concerned about Amazon's commingled inventory.
