Keep in mind that these batteries have a lower peak discharge current than SLA. So you should only do this if your ups load is under about 100w for a 12v system and 200w for a 24v system.

I bought about 10+ of a different brand from Amazon to do just this, replace batteries from an APC and cyberpower battery backups. The bms cuts off at loads over 10a after 3 sec. The discharge current is 10a. So it would only hold up for 3 sec. So this made them useless for battery backups. Sure they will charge up, but it won't hold the load for more than 3 sec. Now I have like 10+ lifepo4 10ah batteries that are basically useless unless I had like an eBike or eScooter. Neither of which I have.

These smaller LiFePO batteries do not have the highest capacity/$, but they fit into the SLA battery compartment slots without any modifications.

I have two older APC Back-UPS units and one APC Smart-UPS unit that all successfully charge LiFePO4 batteries to about 85%. I've had them running for almost a year now with no issues.

I also have an older Tripp-Lite UPS which does NOT change LiFePO4 batteries correctly.

If you decide to try these with other UPS makes/models, please report back your results.

so to be clear this is RBC2 size

another good point about lifepo4 for UPS is that if lead sits dead for days after (ie. after hurricane) it kills the battery or the lifespan but lifepo4 should be able to restore 100% even months after

The code isn't working for me. Says "You already applied this code to an order." But I haven't ordered anything on ebay with any kind of discount code in months.

Anywhere else we could check the compatibility with lifepo4? IE: I have a Back-UPS NS 650M1 (BN650M1 -> https://www.apc.com/us/en/product...-2-surge-/ )

I don't think this battery is compatible (as mine says it takes an RBC, not RBC2), but looking for general info

Please report back how it goes. When I was testing, I let the UPS discharge and then recharge new batteries. When UPS reported that the batteries were fully charged, I checked the actual battery voltage to see what they charged to (using one of the many charts online).

eBay can be weird with codes. I think it counts discount code applications rather than actual purchases. I ran into something similar before.

I applied the code to the item in the cart, then changed my mind and removed the item from the cart. When I then tried to apply the same code to another item, I got the error that the code was already used.

There are two things to consider, size and chemistry (assuming your UPS runs on 12V batteries)

Per description in the ebay listing the size of these LiFePO4 batteries is 5.9 x 3.7 x 2.6 inches. Check the replacement battery size for your UPS model (or just measure the original battery) to see if this replacement will fit.

Chemistry is a lot trickier. There is no good way of predicting how well older UPSes will charge LiFePO4 batteries, a chemistry they were not designed for, without actually trying. UPS vendors do not share this information because this is an "off label" use of their product.

The good news is that these batteries come with BMS that protects them from being overcharged or over drained, so it is unlikely that either the battery or the UPS would get damaged during testing.

One more thing to consider. Maximum discharge current for these LiFePO4 batteries per specification on eco-worthy website is 10A.

So if you are using only one of these batteries in your UPS, I wouldn't pull more than 100W during the outage.

If you have both batteries connected, you can double your draw limit to around 200W.

These are great upgrades for kids scooters, power wheels, sea scooters ,etc. Much better runtimes and much lower weight compared to SLA but you do have to watch out because some cheaper batteries will have cheaper current limiters on them that prevent high amp draw that bigger motors need. The stated 10A should be fine if it's real.

I am still running original batteries on my CyberPower 1500AVR bought from Costco some 14 yrs ago. This UPS is under by desk at home, in total all equipment consuming around 92 watts. Not sure if the batteries are good or not, I have seen no errors, moreover when I lose power, the UPS handles the required power very well until the whole house generator kicks in within 10 secs. Maybe its time to change the batteries, any ideas if the charging system on this UPS would handle the 2 new LiPos ?

Is this per battery? If it is, my CyberPower UPS has 2 batteries, assuming they are in parallel, shouldn't that requirement get raised to 200w load ?

I'm no expert but from what I've read, lifepo4 shouldn't be left constantly charging like SLA. I don't think (most) UPS' charging systems adjust for the change in battery chemistry. Can anyone add light?
