Most of the stores around me have a sign outside saying you can only use cash on gift cards.

My local store every year stops me from buying the card. They usually say they can't honor this deal or some off excuse even though their own website usually shows the deal. I think I got it only one year because the person at the register didn't care. I guess they assume you're trying to scam them by using a credit card to buy it.

It varies by store, but the one I generally go to the computer will lock up after two or three 500.00 Lowes cards. You'll generally need to pay cash and need a key turn from a manager (you may have to wait a bit). On the bright side, odds are if there is a Dollar General near you, there are three or four more nearby.

I got a ton of these last year. Still don't know what to buy. Flooring is rarely on sale and neither are other things I want like light fixture sealing fans.

Buy Lowes coupons (do a google search) and make your own sale.
