Just so everyone knows, this is the best processor for gaming, but paired with a cl32 6000 ram instead of cl30 6000. this is definitely being used to offload their cl32 6000 ram.

but its within ~3% difference on that ram. you wont even miss it with that blazing fast cpu. especially since they are sold out often of the cpu.

if this is your only opportunity to get it, definitely get it for the cpu alone, and eat the 3%.

Also you can manually oc the ram to cl30 but it will take 30mins-1hour to figure out the sub timings and voltage.

Btw if you get this processor, it can be way more than 3% better in gaming than every single other processor on the market today. Some benchmarks go up to almost 30% under certain resolutions, with certain settings, in certain games.
Itching to switch from my AM4 platform to this but I'll wait.
Depends how much you paid and what kind of gaming you do (and I guess how much productivity stuff you do).... improvements at lower resolutions/quality will be significant- but above that, even on a 4090, you'll still be GPU limited not CPU and will see little if any difference.

LTTs review compared CP2077 for example on this and found even at 1080p when you max settings you're only seeing maybe a 2% improvement going 7800X3D to 9800X3D, less than 1% by 1440p/max (even the 5800X3D is less than 1% slower here than the 9800X3D), and by 4k scores are basically identical. And they tested several other games this way and saw even less difference at the ultra settings across resolutions.... and I don't imagine there's a LOT of folks who buy a top-tier gaming CPU then run 1080p low?

The 9800X3D does beat the 7800X3D in productivity testing by a decent bit-- but if that's your primary use case the 9700X beats both in most testing (let alone the higher core/speed 9xxx chips).... Still, if you're primarily a gamer but ALSO do a decent amount of cpu-heavy productivity stuff, the upgrade is probably worth it.... purely for gaming though, not so much.... It's possible the gaming benefits will be more apparent in gaming with say a future 5090 or something, but no way to quantify that now.

Man I really want this for my next build but I don't want this ram or mobo. Ugh really upset I wasn't able to pick one up when it released.

I'm wanting to build my next pc around feb/march of next year and starting to buy parts as they go on sale during the holidays.

Worried the 9800x3d won't be in stock often.

I was thinking about that too. But I have never used Mac os and I've read that it's a pain to use an external hard drive with a Mac. Plus I already bought the NZXT H1 V2 m-itx case for $200 like 2 years ago and it's still sitting in the box! 😞

Closest microcenter is 3 hours away. Too far. Good deal, though if you're getting this CPU, you might as well get an 870e based MB.

I only wish Micro Center shipped more of their stuff. My store is in the next state. Good deal though. 👍
They won't ship these bundle deals. There's a reason they are IN-STORE ONLY. They sell a LOT of extra stuff over the course of any given year when the bundle-buyer walks in to pick up their bundle and walks out with a bunch of OTHER items. So, for them, the in-store buyer gets the bundle deals because they also historically spend more cash when they come into the store. I'm a repeat 'victim' of that marketing + sales strategy. ;-)

Would you drive 3 hours to an amusement park or a concert or some other event or attraction. Think of Microcenter like that. A destination... and you score a great deal on a bundle while you're there. ;-)

I used to live 10 minutes from a Fry's and in college I was down the road from a MC. 6 hours of driving for a CPU is a stretch.

Just bought this last weekend for an xmas present: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS B650-E TUF Gaming, G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit, Computer Build Bundle Is it worth it to switch for the price difference?
Yes, Check Gamer's Nexus review on Youtube. Worth the upgrade. I swapped my 7800X3D bundle for the 7800X3D one.

Here I am, still on my 3600. Wanting to upgrade but knowing it's probably not worth it if I just play call of duty.
You should've upgraded to 5800X3D when you had a chance. I upgraded from 2600x to 5800X3D last year using the same mobo and this beast is still competing with the latest cpus. Well 5800X3D is long gone now.

If you can wait, these'll plummet in a couple months. Or at least the 7800x3d will.

Guys, I'm not a gamer and I need recommendations for a CPU with strong iGPU for doing everyday productivity tasks. I also do occasional photo/video editing. I don't want to get a discreet GPU because I don't think I will need it for what I do.. I'm leaning towards Arrow Lake because while they are terrible at gaming, they have improved in efficiency, heat, iGPU and productivity. None of the AMD CPUs have strong iGPU except for their APU 8000g line. But the CPU performance on those chips is not impressive like their iGPU. What do you guys think?
You probably don't need an expensive system.

I have several systems (1 hooked up to each TV, along with an arcade, and also a complete heavy use computer rig (heavy music production and gaming too etc), and for everyday tasks...even the machine with an ancient 2500k i5 is perfectly fine (it is overclocked).

In your use case, I'd just look for something used and cheap, or a cheap deal on a prebuilt.

If I wanted to build a system just for fun, I'd get a 5700g for $160 on the AM4 platform with 32GB of cheaper DDR4 ram and however much NVME storage you need and be done with it. I'd spend under $100 on a motherboard as you won't need bells and whistles.

Here is one with 2.5 Gbit lan (no wifi...if that is what you need shop around).

Arrow Lake will be faster yes, but cost a lot more, and still run a lot hotter and use a lot more power.

But for easy computing tasks...I can't tell the difference between my 2500k, 2400g, 5950x, or 5700g machines. They all just run fine.

So really take stock on what your productivity tasks are. Is it running word and excel, or running. Note: If you are the type that likes to tinker and upgrade over time...ignore everything I said. This is a buy it and forget it system not meant to tweak and improve over time--but it will save you a lot of money.

(here is a good price on a nice ddr4 kits to pair with the cpu/igpu that will get the most out of it (for a small price premium).

The 9800x3D is about twice as fast as the 3600 in gaming (@ 1080p), so it would be a significant upgrade. It would probably last you 5-7 years.
If I were close to a Microcenter, I would have already picked up the 7600x3D bundle. Put that $200 saved towards a GPU.

No point in getting this or any intel based cpu if you're waiting on a 50 series. Even 4080/90 are still too pricy. For the price though I must admit, 9800x3d is a value for what it can do. I bought a 5800x3d at 229.99 when it was just a few months old

Thanks. I appreciate your recommendation. The thing is, I already bought the H1V2 from NZXT for 200 when they were selling it for cheap. So as you can tell, I do like to tinkle and build my own system. It's just everything I see and read about today's CPUs, they all emphasize gaming capabilities. Since I don't game, I just want something that fast, efficient and reliable that is going to last me for years to come. I was soo close to getting the 8700g but then I read that you can buy a cheap old Intel CPU and a cheap dGPU and they will outperform the 8700g for less cost. So I decided to wait for Arrow Lake and so far, it is fitting my needs. The cost is a bit high right now but hopefully it will come down a bit since the gamers won't touch them, especially now thar AMD just released that new X3D chip and it is blowing up all the other gaming CPUs. Or maybe I can wait for the successor of the 8700g but that could be a long wait?

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think i will ever buy another low-mid tier asus board. After having so much ram issues with my B550-tuf.
