Looking for a decent gaming laptop for my son. Would this be solid for Fortnite?
Yeah, this will run Fortnite pretty well. The video card is pretty similar to a GTX 1660 Ti, but with some fancy new feature. Pretty amazing for a $500 laptop if you you ask me. Not going to run all AAA games at this point though.

Would I be correct in assuming this is much better than this past Walmart BF SD laptop I purchased in 2020? https://www.walmart.com/ip/379414...b49234cf58 (I've upgraded the storage and memory on it so those are equal to this laptop)

Need some input. How does this compare to the recent Slick Deals Lenovo LOQ at Best Buy for $750?
The one with the Ryzen 7435hs and 4060? I'm no expert but the Ryzen is about the same for single thread tasks (like say browsing or Office). The Ryzen has a better (but not great tbh) iGPU, the 4060 is about 20-30% faster than the 4050, but the price of the LOQ is 50% more than this one.
Ultimately IF you are only going to browse and game a bit then just go for this. But if you want a better gaming setup and see yourself doing video editing or running local AI models then go for the LOQ. Worth mentioning though that for video editing and AI work you should probably just get a better processor and a 4070 but then that probably pushes you to the 1k range

How would the graphics on this compare to an Xbox series X? I have an X I bought last year, graphics are excellent. I also have a HP pavilion gaming laptop with an I5 9th gen and GTX1650 that's 4 years old I bought on BF 2020 that by todays standard is sheeeet. Love my X but I miss add-ons for Flight sim. 10 hours battery life on this? I highly doubt it.

That synthetic benchmark doesn't show which power variant they used.
Doing a little digging it looks like this is the 75w variant - models typically range from 45w to 105w. Even the 45w 4050 crushes the 1650 in most benchmarks. If you search YT you can find quite a few comparisons between the 1650 mobile and 4050 moble. If the comparison is a 4050 105w you can typically take off 8-10fps to show the 75w comparison.
For your other questions. Trying to compare a laptop to a dedicated gaming system is like comparing apples and oranges. It might claim 10hrs of battery life for video (run from the system, not wifi) but you'll never see 10hrs for gaming.
