i got protection from walmart allstate for 2 airpods in the past. i used one of them recently and they just sent me a check for the amount i paid. other protection i couldnt use as i forgot that i even bought one.
moreover pro 3 will be released next year. so just say these are having issue and they will send a check
You need to use your membership rewards points which are only 0.7c per $ to see if you're eligible
Not exactly sure how the math would work but that should get them down to $120-$140 net price factoring in the points exchange markup

Edit: I forgot I could purchase AppleCare after the fact, I'll just skip and buy on phone through apple
I want to use the "Chase 30% off up to $15 when using rewards points" promo that was on the front page yesterday. But for some reason as soon as I add apple care, it removes the option to utilize points. Take apple care off and I can use points again.

You get 2 extra years of coverage (4 vs 2), accidental damage doesn't incur the $29 fee, and because they don't have repair facilities they just send you a check . Trying to get my gen1 fixed with Apple on the cracking sound issue was a giant hassle and now (yr4) my battery on them is effectively useless (~1.5 playtime).
Allstate can be a hassle on appliances, but not on small electronics in my experience
