On top of the $50 Uber eats and $10 MSI mail in rebate OP mentioned, you can get another $30 MSI rebate if you leave a review, and a $30 steam credit.
See https://images10.newegg.com/uploa...24lw80.pdf for the $10 and $30 rebate and https://images10.newegg.com/uploa...24lw80.pdf for the Steam credit
This gets a bit complicated value wise. If you cannot use / don't plan to use the UE code it doesn't add value. If can use it for something you normally would anyway and get the full value that makes this card effectively 239.99

... which is the same price the X670E Tomahawk is in a few places.

The 870 isn't a fully straight upgrade from the X670E, but is generally better (faster ethernet, more USB connectors, updated components - been noted on recent videos to do better at overclocking and stability of new 9xxx CPUs including 9800X3D
Bundling an UE GC with a motherboard is like adding a free screen door to a submarine. Come on MSI, do better.

Maybe someone at MSI got hungry during a build, and was like, eureka!

At first I thought UE was some kind of special capability that isn't used by any software (facepalm)

In some ways the x870 is worse than the x670e, mainly the number of PCIe chipset lanes (870 has 12 vs the 670e with 20).
The x870 is more comparable to being this generations "B" series board.
Unless you really care about USB 4.0 ports (which 6 series boards can also have, the 8 series is just guaranteed to have them) you'll probably be better served with an x670e.

I did note it wasn't a straight upgrade in every aspect. For me the 5 gigabit NIC on the 870 is useful (compared to 2.5 on the 670E). Also get the full debug code, not just basic 'one of 4 categories' EZ lights.

I still have enough PCIE lanes on the 870 to populate all my PCIE boards and M.2. SSDs without running out of lanes. By same token as you mention, the 870 Tomahawk lets you turn off the USB 4 ports and give the lanes back to the other board slots if you don't want them. As far as I know, the Tomahawk is the only board that lets you do that (others just split lanes 2x/2x without a choice.

Talking about what boards theoretically could have isn't particularly useful when we're talking about two specific boards (the Tomahawk at 670E and X870).

Run your neighbor over by ordering something from uber eats. They will ride an ebike/scooter to make your delivery and run people over Smilie

Would you have any suggestions on a x670e board? I'm mainly looking for something that can deal with a decent amount of M.2's and ample USB ports.
