So lets say you walked into the bose store because you needed to buy a pair of headphones and you pass by a pair thats in the box and labeled refurbished on sale for $39 and you say hell with it, I will take a chance and buy these because it seemed like a reasonable deal to you considering a brand new pair was $200. You go to the cash register and you pay for them you get in your car go home and you start using them for a couple days. Then three days later someone at the store realizes the wrong price was on them. Do you think they will come to your house and ask for them back and tell you that they made a mistake? This is what's happening right now. And they need to own up to it. Price mistakes happen in stores all the time and people buy stuff at a drastically discounted rate. No one goes knocking door-to-door asking for the product back. Online retailers should be held accountable. The mistake equals their problem. It shouldn't be the consumers problem. If you as an individual listed something for sale on eBay and you made a mistake on the listing price and sold that item too cheap the buyer would chastise you and eBay would probably kick you off the platform for not shipping out the item or honoring the sales price.
The fact that Bose did not address the issue and offer some sort of compensation to its customers says a lot about the company. This might've been a marketing gimmick right before the holidays. I personally always fight for the little guy. I don't feel bad for the big companies.

Nah I despise the "flippers" who are always ready to leech on this site. This one will probably get called back since it's almost certainly a price mistake (Probably meant $139 and $169). But they've ruined many great legit deals in the past when someone orders 5-10 of an item and quickly depletes the stock.

Getting 2-3 of these to give as gifts is cool. Buying 5 to try to flip is the very definition of rent-seeking. They contribute nothing to society.

On the positive side, the refurb QC Ultra deal ($210) is still very good for what is likely a "legit" price. IMO it's my favorite ANC headphone set currently

Except Ebay also is supposed to punish you harshly for doing so. Enough orders like that and you are suspended. Well at least for us little guys.
Yeah it sucks. Ebay is super rough on the small sellers with their policies. As a casual seller offloading stuff I no longer use Ebay, I stopped selling because of that and all the scammers on the buyer side. Bose definitely deserves a punishment from Ebay and whatever negative feedback they get.

This thread was only up like 30 minutes before the listings when OOS and the deal died. From my experience that's a sign of them having safety guards in place and it wasn't all that many units they'd have to redeem at the discounted price. A big company like Bose this is nothing and basically some decent PR or whatever. Them not taking the loss is just kind of pathetic in this particular situation.

I had initially guessed the stock was pretty small but if it's true that flippers got word and emptied out a significant stock, the seller might've taken a significant loss. Especially if people are ordering 10-20 at a time. From the history of Slickdeals, when price mistakes get pulled back its either if someone contacts the seller (which is quite possible with flippers eager to get their stuff shipped) or if people order a big quantity of products.

Doesn't excuse the seller for not honoring the pricing at the time and it definitely will cost them their image. But it just isn't surprising in today's day and age. Would it have slipped under the radar until the mistake was corrected in the morning if the deal stayed low-profile? Maybe. But even then its a risk.

I ordered one too and within 10 minutes of the deal showing up. To this point it is still pending. So I am be screwed too but I knew going in the risk.

I'm fine w/ a cancellation--what irks me is that my paid purchase was literally on its way to me when it was labelled "undeliverable" as if it's my address's fault. Now I'm still in the midst of this transaction as UPS states, "The delivery date will be provided as soon as possible. We've received a request from the sender to return the package," along w/ eBay's "Awaiting shipment".
Again, I'm jealous of those whose transactions have simply been cancelled as they'll receive a quick refund while I have to wait for Bose to get around to it.

Yeah that really sucks. I'm in the same boat. Hopefully you can get your money back soon or maybe they'll ship it as soon as the item comes back in stock.

To make this worst, all the big resellers that impulse bought 10-50 qty with the thought of soley to resell did not know it was refurb, so after they realized and couldn't cancel (during purchase time) they all sent a msg to bose requesting to cancel, which just alerted them quicker to fix the price mistake and now rts/cancels.

Is this a fact or guess? I would guess that resellers would still pick up refurbs at this price to resell too...

its a fact and no, i'm not posting the resell group, believe it not, doesn't matter either way. there are deals out there that goes out of stock in literal seconds, such deals, people buy now and think later. also those deals never make it to slick deals. the home depot deal for example where most top brand power tools/bundles were 80-90% off that happened few weeks ago.

Cancelled - black!
Now to wait 3-5 business days for my credit, which adds to the frustration!

I sent a nice email via Contact Seller requesting to wait until stock is replenished so I can upgrade my old Bose QC15's (yeah they are rather old), asking them to honor the price.
- There is no need to get ugly about this - you get more flies with honey than vinegar :-)
It's obviously not due to oos. They apparently have the earphones but would rather not ship it to you.

Decent PR? This will be a marketing disaster for Bose. A headline saying Bose fulfilled $40 Headphone orders will drop the value of these items. No one would want to buy at full price and not even sale price because they may just think lets wait for another price mistake.

Further, resellers will list these on eBay for ~100, further degrading the value and causing Bose to lose some sales.

I think leaving bad reviews is the only thing we can do at this point. Unless someone knows something that ebay can do
unfortunately, leaving a bad review is useless because ebay will probably remove your negative review. ebay did that for Crocs last time when there were price mistakes and all negative reviews were removed.

These are refurbs and probably won't affect sales of new headphones much. I don't think this will have much negative marketing for Bose.
