FYI Firman often has their 1800W/2000W peak inverter generator on sale for $200-250. I have many of their generators and they've been great. I'd personally wait for a Firman sale.

I'd gotten one of the cheap 1800/2000W refurbs a while ago as part of a refurb sale. Mixed feelings. In short, one thing everyone should be aware of on it is that the intake is right on the bottom of the unit and can ingest sand/dust easily. That said... it did work, and it did run loads. My biggest functional complaint about it was that its eco-mode throttle control wasn't super dependable (it tended to stall out if idling in eco mode then, say, a fridge compressor kicked on).

I've since bartered it away after having sprung for the legendary Honda EU2200i; its eco mode throttle has been flawless.

I have the older version of this. Initially purchased for "during the day" kitchen electronics & charging a 300wh portable power station during camp outing. Was also going to use small window-unit AC to keep the tent cool but ended up not needing.

The next week after camping, a hurricane hit and we lost power for around 36hrs. I pulled this out to the back yard, strung two extension cords - one to the kitchen/living room, another to the bedroom + internet room. It always powered modem/wifi. During the day it powered: TV, PS5, fans. During the night it powered: a few lamps, TV, small window AC (overnight). I would also swap out the fridge for kitchen appliances like kettle, george foreman, griddle during the day.

I always kept the generator at "eco mode" (see: also low noise) and it will rev up when needed. I believe I used about 1 to 1.5 gallon over 36hrs.

Edit: Apparently, I bought mine for $343.14 otd, which makes this current deal better than mine. Also, that deal was available for normal noobs like me who don't have W+

Those are sometimes refurbished for that price, but they are okay for the price.

Not sure if it makes a difference to some. But i got one for a family member in case the power goes out during a flood. The whole point was to power the water pumps in case they are needed. She doesnt even have the arm strength to pull the starter cord properly to start it.

In case arm strength is an issue, get one that has electric starter.

I can't remember where the intake/dust cover of my model of this wattage/brand, but I made it a point to carry wooden planks which I use as a "platform" for my generator. After 40+hrs of use, I cleaned the filter and it was surprisingly clean. That's after spending a few hours in the wilderness.

You have to look at the pump and see what its surge power requirement is. This tops out at 15 Amp 2500W. I was considering combining this with a Ecoflo Delta 2, this way you have the ability to recharge the Delta 2 very effectually. And still have the silent and reliable battery power indoors.

Just wanted to inject that your memory is likely not correct on the fuel usage. No generator will run for 36 hours on that amount of gas. 10 hours/gallon pure eco mode is the likely max.

Just to clarify. I believe that firman generator is 1600/2000 watts. They also make a 1700/2100 version. But usually charge considerably more for it. Also during the last refurbished sale it was 249 instad of the usual 199. Don't know if that's the new Sale refurbished price or not.

I own the sixteen hundred watt version. It's been great. I do wish should had a little more power. When running microwave or small convection it really revs hard. Running a little over 1500 watts. It does run it. But I feel it may be shortening its life. Wish it had a little more breathing room. For tasks like charging the ecoflow delta 2 it is perfect.
