It's rare to see a Demeyere Atlantis deal, so if you have your heart set on them, this isn't bad.

As for whether they are worth paying nearly double the cost of All-Clad D3, or paying more than 50% more than All-Clad D5, that's an individual decision.

If you have an induction cooktop, then these pans do perform a pretty impressive trick: Demeyere Atlantis both heats faster and holds heat better than other brands (those things are usually in opposition to each other). This is true only on induction cooktops.

But again, that comes at a cost. Compared to All-Clad D3, they heat about 10% faster on induction, and retain heat about 10% better, but the pans weigh more than twice as much (about the same as cast iron) and cost nearly double.

Atlantis is also the only major stainless clad line that is dishwasher safe.

I recommend this comparison video [youtu.be].
Bought this a couple years ago at full price. Best induction set you can buy.
I bought a set of all clad d3 before I learned about these pans. Since then I have bought Demeyre pieces to add and I always grab those before cooking on the all clad. If you can afford it I highly recommend it over the d3. They are buy for life pans.

Atlantis pan rock solid on induction whereas my induction cooktop warps All-Clad if not careful.

FYI Atlantis rim is not fully sealed. The seam is at the bottom of the lip not the side like other pans.

This versus All-Clad D5 . Any thoughts, or experience?

We bought a D5 set for $500 a couple of years ago (10 piece). I regretted not buying the similar Demeyere set at the time . The D5 has been amazing, but man the welded handles of the Demeyere... plus 7 layer versus 5... made in Belgium... Oh well.

I will say. All-Clad has been amazing with warranty. We had a small defect in the 3qt Saute Pan, and they sent a brand new replacement (keep the old one). Before sending the right replacement, they sent a 3Qt sauce pan instead. I called to inform them of their mistake, and they told me to KEEP it... Brand new?? I'd have been happy to send it back. I was shocked that it wasn't worth it to them to take it back and put it back in to inventory. Made me wonder what the profit margins must be on these things (huge? Big Grin).

Another thing to keep in mind, if you care about country of origin (as I do): I believe the All-Clad LIDS are made in CHINA. Seems a bit f*cked up to me. Just made the f*cking lids in the US, FFS. Claiming to be "Made in USA", except the f*cking lid is made in China? Sneaky, and dishonest. With the Demeyere, I bet the f*cking lids are ALSO made in Belgium. Annoying.

"All-Clad stainless steel cookware, including the D3, D3 Everyday, D5 Brushed and Polished, Copper Core, and G5 Graphite Core collections, is made in the United States at All-Clad's Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, factory. However, the lids and handles for these collections are manufactured in China and attached/assembled in the US."

Same thing with Le Creuset, the dutch oven itself and the lid are made in France, but the knob is made in China.

This was on my deal alert because I was considering induction but the wiring ended up being an issue. Is this upgrade worthwhile for gas stoves?

I have 4 frying pans and the dutch oven (on clearance). I think it's worth paying for the frying pans because they're pretty amazing (holds heat, great sear, as non stick as you can get with stainless) but probably not worth it for the pots. I can fry an egg in the pan and it doesn't stick too bad and also dishwasher safe for those lazy people like me. I had all clad d3 and tramonita before and the Demeyere blows them away. The only downside is the big pans are heavy, so not recommended for little old ladies, think cast iron heavy.

Yes, but in the cooking surface which is a disc, not clad. Perfect for cookware with vertical sidewalls as you don't cook on them.
