I don't know what is going to happen this black Friday but one thing is certain, next year with the higher tariffs on imports from China, if this laptop is made in china, it will be much more expensive.
So this black Friday might be the best time to upgrade.
The issue was with some microcoding but I believe they fixed most of it with the news bios update
They did, but most laptop manufacturers haven't issued the relevant BIOS updates yet.
Lenovo hasn't issued a BIOS update for their laptops yet, as far as I'm aware.
That said, this is a 55watt i5 CPU. It's likely not impacted by the Intel overvoltage issue.
I'd say the Acer Nitro is probably the better deal for a 4060 laptop, if you don't mind refurbished. Better screen, bigger battery, better ports, better CPU, lower price:

If anything just buy extra warranty. Extra 3 years was like $25
I'm looking to get my kid his first laptop for Christmas, for around $600-800.
I was leaning towards the Best Buy Lenovo LOQ for $700, but I saw that the AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS CPU in it doesn't have an integrated GPU, so it runs on the RTX 4060 all the time, leading to terrible battery life.
The Intel i5-13450HX CPU in this deal seems to be comparable in performance to the Ryzen in the Best Buy deal, but it has an integrated GPU, so battery life should be much better, right? That would be worth the extra $70.

It is currently out of stock though.

As for the Intel 13th/14th gen issue with Lenovo, apparently it's fixed in this BIOS update?

But I'm not 100% sure. Can anyone weigh in?
Edit: I ended up going with the $700 ASUS TUF at Best Buy instead. I didn't want to have to worry about the CPU/motherboard issues in the Lenovo LOQ.
