Id say any upper hand it has is going to be very hard to notice.
AFAIK its the same sensor size and same lens as the Action 4 and those really are the two things that matter when it comes to IQ.
The higher pixel density can help get more detail in a video, but does nothing for noise or dynamic range and since these cameras rely on so much processing I find the 4/5 comparison for detail is not always the same, depending on conditions they trade up with another.
Are you asking me to recommend a camera book?

My old GoPro pisses me off to no extent everytime I use it and I been meaning to buy this once the price dropped a bit.
I just ordered this one before my membership lapsed, so great timing
