Fiskars used to make good quality products. Not anymore. Avoid anything with their brand name one it now unless you plan on replacing it practically immediately.

Yep.. I think I'm done buying Fiskars. I bought several of their snips recently, both RMA because of imperfections in the edge that caught & dragged when cutting.

Their fit/finish/QC seems to have gone downhill and leaves a lot to be desired next to options known for their quality, e.g. Felco, ARS, and Knipex.. More expensive , but also "buy it for life" quality.

I also had a bad experience with a pruning shear. Part of the blade broke before even one season of pruning small branches.

I agree. I bought the 10" version and they seem very nice. I'm considering getting this size, too.

I get the impression it is against their nature to recommend anything. Probably they are only capable of criticizing.

There's also the 8" Kobalt shears for $6.98 at Lowe's. My local stores don't have the correct price listed but the sale active till the end of December.

We have those shears.
Several years ago the 2-pack (8" and 10") was on clearance for $4.98 and I bought a set for my husband because he kept taking mine. Then I bought sets for each of our grown kids for Christmas and an extra set as backup. They are fantastic and have easily cut cardboard, metal, wire, plastic. The 10" pair is a little bulky and heavy for smaller hands but I would 100% recommend.

I am not criticizing the Fiskars; I don't have those shears but have multiple Fiskars snips and kids' scissors and they have all held up fine.
