There are so many models, I'm editing to add a link to this comparison chart [reddit.com] (update here's an even MORE DETAILED COMPARISON CHART [reddit.com] thanks JohnS3825) along with this advice from my comment below :

1) If all you need is vacuuming, then just get the most basic Q5 model. They are excellent robot vacs that are quite smart and vacuum well and will last a long time.

2) You don't even really need a self-emptying dock unless you have a heavy hair, carpet, and pet-shedding situation.

3) If mopping is important to you, then the newer, more expensive Qrevo models may be worth it. They have the dual spinning mop design and a dock that disinfects and dries the mops between cycles.

4) Ignore the "obstacle avoidance" feature when choosing a vac. They haven't gotten this right yet on any model so that shouldn't be your deciding factor.

5) To narrow it down further, choose the vac that's right for your home rather than the one recommended by random strangers. If you have low-clearance furniture you want to vacuum under, then measure that height and it could be a slim model is the only one that could get under it (they do vary -- unfortunately height isn't in the chart linked above). If you have high thresholds to cross between rooms, pick a model that has the clearance to get over the thresholds. If you have high pile carpets, pick a vac that has high clearance or is smart enough not to accidentally mop them.

6) The very newest models (Qrevo Curv and Qrevo Edge) truly do it all. They have this new "DuoDivide" brush and a redesigned side brush that remarkably do not get anything tangled in them. Their self-cleaning docks heat and disinfect the mops better than previous models. But they are crazy expensive and I hestitate to tell anybody to spend that much on a robot vac. By next year they'll probably have these features in models half this price.

Qrevo Curv is the new flagship. It has a couple of actual meaningful innovations, including a new split roller design and side brush that are kind of remarkable in that nothing gets tangled in them. It also climbs over threshold and flat furniture legs effectively, if you need that.

That being said, the number of models is ridiculous, and they just keep introducing new ones.

My advice:

5) Buy the vac that's right for your home rather than the one recommended by random strangers. If you have low-clearance furniture you want to vacuum under, then measure it and pick a model that isn't too tall. If you have high thresholds to cross between rooms, pick a model that can get over the thresholds. If you have high pile carpets, pick a vac that has high clearance or is smart enough not to accidentally mop them.

Any suggestions for upgrade from S7? No pets or carpets, just vinyl floors and looking for better suction, self empty dock (nice to have) and has newer dual spinning mop design and a dock that disinfects and dries the mops between cycles?

I just went with the Qrevo S
  • Suction Power: 7,000 Pa – almost 3x stronger than the S7's 2,500 Pa. This extra suction is especially effective on vinyl floors, picking up fine dust and debris that might be missed with lower suction.
  • Mopping: Dual Spinning Mops (two rotating mop heads that spin at up to 200 RPM). This provides deeper cleaning action than the S7's single vibrating pad, giving a more thorough scrub on vinyl and other hard floors.
  • Docking: Multifunctional dock with self-emptying, self-washing, and self-drying for the mops. While it doesn't have true disinfection, the drying feature keeps the mops odor-free and mildew-resistant, a big step up from the S7's basic self-emptying dock.
Premium Upgrade Option: Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
  • Suction Power: 6,000 Pa – slightly less than the Q Revo S's 7,000 Pa, but still over twice the S7's 2,500 Pa. While not as high as the Q Revo S, the S8 Pro Ultra's suction is still more than sufficient for most hard floor needs.
  • Mopping: Dual Spinning Mops with improved cleaning patterns compared to the Q Revo S. The S8 Pro Ultra's mops have optimized movement, allowing for more precise, controlled mopping that's particularly effective on hard floors.
  • Docking: Fully featured dock with self-emptying, self-washing, heated drying, and disinfection. The drying feature is heated, which speeds up drying and helps prevent bacteria growth, and the disinfecting function provides an extra layer of cleanliness between cycles. This is the only Roborock dock with true disinfection.
  • Obstacle Avoidance: Features ReactiveAI 2.0, which uses a front-facing camera for more advanced obstacle recognition than both the S7 and Q Revo S. While this isn't critical for homes without many obstacles, it's a nice-to-have if the environment changes or clutter is occasionally left out. After watching videos though, this doesn't avoid things like phone charging cables, which is what I need so obstacle avoidance doesn't matter to me until then.

See recommendations above, but also consider your specific situation re things like thresholds and robot height.
$1K is a ton to spend on a device like this so make sure it's the right one.

Or if your S7 still works, consider picking your upgrade model and then waiting another 6 months for the price to drop in half.

I think the Plus has the extension arm for mopping (compared to the standard S), and the Pro has dirt intelligence, which doesn't sound that useful given the price difference. Compare link here: https://us.roborock.com/pages/rob...er-compare

Correct, and the pro just adds the dirt intelligence on top.

I found a more detailed comparison table [reddit.com]than the one listed by the OP. There's a lot of nuance but generally, at these prices, I think the Qrevo S is the best bang for buck Roborock. Jumping up from there, the Qrevo Slim looks like flagship features for a decent price. I wouldn't get anything in between those two. And if price is not object, that's the cheapest the Qrevo Curv has been, but I don't think its worth $300 more than the slim. The Curv's ability to go over large transitions could make it the no brainer choice to specific houses.
