4. It will create a new account and close the old account on your existing login.
5. You will be charged prorated amount on old account and new account starts right away.
6. Your internet will be on for a while but one day it will stop working.

My wife and I have switched accounts for many years every time a deal expires. I started going in store because you get the equipment right away. You will have to constantly replace modems every time you switch but it saves hundreds.
why dont use your own modem? i always call when changing accounts and they are able to switch the modem to new account easily.

How fast is it to, say, cut off my dad's full price Xfinity service and restore service on my mom's name as a new customer? Same physical address, same physical cable, modem etc.

My understanding is that you can tell them you are doing this over the phone (for example if you are renting equipment) and it is basically instantaneous

So you have existing under your wife's name and then you go into the store and say you want to sign up under yours? Do you have to cancel your wife's account first or do they do both things while in the store?

Anyone know what happens if after signing up for autopay from bank account and then then prepay $33 with a credit card just before your bill due date? Does the autopay discount remain or gets taken off ?
I know that with FIOS, I can do this with a new debit (Staples purchased no-fee MCGC/VGC nettning 5% through Ink) card and the discount still stays (needs at least $1 to go to stored autopay debit card).

Is the home internet unlimited data? Is mobile data with verizon and is throttle after _____ date usage? My plan currently requires comcast equipment to get unlimited data or pay more for unlimited data if you use your own modem because the comcast equip becomes a wifi hotspot called xfinitiywifi which can be switched off but most people are unaware.

I was about to sign up, but then I saw the 1.2TB data cap. Feels like a relic from the past! Thankfully, I have AT&T as an alternative in my area.

after 1.2 TB, do you still get internet but just at a lower rate, or do they cut it off, or do they charge you extra?

You have one free month of going over 1.2 TB of data. During that month, you are basically treated as if you are on unlimited. Afterward, you are charged per gig. I don't remember the exact cost, but it's pretty ridiculous. When I used to have the 1.2TB limit, I would end up calling them and having them add the unlimited data option to my plan for $30 before the month end. The next month, I would turn it off again. These days, I just add on the xfinity advantage, which is $25 and includes a router. I just leave it at that.
