Is this a good buy? Looking for a casual browsing computer. No gaming. Looks like it's 2 yrs old. Looks like screen on this thing will be beautiful.

Any idea how these refurbs from Microcenter are? Are these used laptops that have been walked through, or like new refurbs? I've been looking for a laptop and this checks all of our boxes.

The screen will be beautiful and perfect for your use but the 90 day warranty on a refurbished laptop is worrisome. Might consider one of the after-market extended warranties.

Some OLED have life issues, I would be wary of a refurb.

Usually refurb from microcenter are good. They are refurb straight from manufacture, comes like new condition

If there are any issues with the laptop, you'll find out within 90 days... Take care of your stuff and it will take care of you.

Great screen specs. Hesitant because of the reverb.

I purchased this laptop last week and the screen resolution is really nice but there is a lot of glare especially outside. I have always used basic screen laptop so I am having issues with very small text on some older apps. Reducing the resolution helps for those situations but it defeats the purpose of having a nice screen. Adjusting the text size in windows does not help with older apps (Visual c++ 2013, 2015 )
Any suggestions on how to deal with this?
Also, the fan is a bit loud and stays on too long when I plug it to the charger and the lid is closed. The bottom does get a bit hot as well after 10 minutes or more.

You're saying that laptops either fail in the first 90 days or live a long life? None have failures in months 4-12? Well, then...manufacturers might as well give us 90 day warranties on everything! Smilie

You don't mention what it is you do on the laptop and which older apps are problematic.

Got this last time with the $100 off Microcenter coupon. Easily still worth it at this price - the screen is gorgeous. Only downsides are the loud fan (can be silenced in settings if you don't mind a slight performance hit) and battery life (OLED hit)

This thing runs with fans cranked up Max even with minimal load.
