There is a reason they make sure you have no Internet inside to compare prices.
My Costco offers free WiFi inside.

It Costco doesn't save you money, fine. But don't be ignorant and assert that it's the same for everybody.

I got almost $300 rebate from costco and $600 rebate from citi each year. I typically pay off CC balance very much each month. I have only 2 cards, citi and Amex (used to be costco card) and refused to sign up any new cards.

It would be nice if they showed the price instead of how much off.

It's not the best idea ever, but for some, the membership fee is recouped pretty fast and then some by savings. Now this is American.
Yeah I recoup my fee like 20 times over, everything else is gravy

Just ignore those who always come and trash every Costco deals, I bet they all shop in Walmart or Sam's Club.
Say what you want about Sam's club but the experience over the past 10 years has gotten better while Costco has only gotten worse for myself. I won't even touch their food court anymore, even the hot dog is disappointing.

I got a membership last year when I could get the $40 shop card so for $20, it wasn't bad. There's about 5 items in the store that are a pretty good deal for me but won't be worth it for the higher priced membership that they sent me a renewal for. I like alot of their clothes but I can buy them online without a membership, so that's what I will continue to do.

It's interesting to sit by the food court and watch people's carts as they are on the way out. See what people buy. Lots of fru-fru stuff and alot of people only buy 1 or 2 things. It's almost like a trip to Costco isn't for shopping, it's just entertainment. Something for the well-to-do to do. I notice they don't have giant size food displays, only a small square footprint for items (like produce) and they are always looking pristine. I realized it's because no one is buying them. Their produce prices are absurdly high. Meat is high. The cases are always full. I wonder what they do with stuff when it expires. I never see markdowns, yet no one buys. And the chicken in the plastic bags is just gross now. They don't put them out anymore like when I joined earlier this year. Now they just sling a goopy chicken in a melting plastic bag towards you when you stop to get one. No thanks.

And worse yet, they became nazi's when you check in the door now . Everybody gotta scan a membership. So I scanned my membership QR code on my phone app. Had it open when I shopped the store, but when I went to use it to checkout, it came up as invalid. You had to close the app down and restart it because their system "forgets" the code. Had to have a manager come over to override it and they make you feel like YOU did something wrong. Ridiculous. And that was after standing in a long line for self-checkout. At Sam's I just use the app, scan everything in my cart on my phone as I'm shopping, then walk through the gate and the attendant checks his device and it automatically completes, then you can leave. Takes no time at all. Costco just seems behind the times as far as checkout goes.

I figure at this point Costco is like Salesforce. Companies that are somehow surviving through divine intervention because the economics of it all makes no sense.

Only thing Costco does well is their generous return policy, saved me thousands on things I no longer need or no longer work (just don't buy electronics that can't be returned past 90 days)

Americans are easily tricked into thinking they're getting a good deal, when you can pretty much get all the common stuff the same price or cheaper elsewhere, without having to pay a fee to get in. There is a reason they make sure you have no Internet inside to compare prices. It's surprising they've just introduced a way to see in-store prices, but only if you search very specifically to make it harder to compare prices.
My roommate smokes. He gets his (generic) cigarettes for just over half what it costs in the gas station. 1 carton a week saves him $150 month.

Any thoughts on the Cyber power PC? Is it proprietary crap or normal components?

They have Bridgestone tire promotions again. Any idea when Michelin is coming back?
