Bought this and never used it. Kid didn't like it at infant and toddler stage. Cloggy nostrils resolve on their own

Perfect timing since I'm recovering from septoplasty/turbinate reduction surgery I had two days ago. Nasal saline mist sprays have been invaluable as hell for times like this and this is a way better deal than the 2 Neilmed sprays I got B1G50% off from Walgreens (4.2 oz) for $11.68 with the usual wag10 coupon! Came out to $6.65 with 15% subscribe and save for the 3 pack!

I always found these saline sprays to have additional ingredients on top of water and salt (despite calling them as saline mist) for reasons unclear to me, and I always avoided buying those with added stuff for infant and toddler use . The only brand that i've found to be just water and salt is the Boogie Nasal Spray. I am not able to see the ingredients on this one, but something to be aware of

edit: went looking for the ingredients on their website, and found this spray has only water and salt listed as ingredients. Their "little remedies saline spray + drops" on the other hand has this list: Water, sodium chloride, glycerin, sodium benzoate, benzoic acid.

FYI, the Arm and Hammer Simply Saline has purified water, sodium chloride (i.e., salt), and sodium bicarbonate (i.e., baking soda). The three packs at Costco/Sam's are 4.5 oz.

This stuff works great. I follow it up with the bulb thing to suck out all the snot. My kids hate it but then once the boogers are cleared they are happy. There are only 2 ingredients: water and salt.

https://www.amazon.com/NeilMed-10...DZFZ0?th=1 - do yourself and your kids a favor learn once and it will pay you back 10x. Just for the sake of god use previously boiled water. Just one minute in the microwave and cold water is warm enough to do a rinse.

Idk who needs three. Bought one for each child while they were growing up and it was fine. Now if you have triplets etc, that's a different story.

Well, you see, when one runs out, you can grab another one and use it. And when that one runs out, you still have one more to use. I'm guessing you only buy a single roll of toilet paper?

From my personal experience. Saline water is only good for washing your nose nostrils.
It never helped me with allergies or actual Flu nose congestion.

For Flu or Allergies nose congestion; I highly recommend Family Care Nasal Relief (Oxymetazoline HCL %0.05) Nasal Decongestant.

Just 1 puff in each nostril and wait 5 to 10 minutes and suddenly you can fully breath again like before!

I got it for only $1.25 at dollar tree and it's a tiny bottle, but that bottle is enough to last you for more than 2 years...

Different use scenarios. This product is typically administered to an infant or toddler prior to nasal aspiration (eg with a Nosefrida) to help lubricate and soften the snot so that it can be sucked out. Vs a Neti pot that is used by older kids or adults to help with rinsing off aeroallergens and mucus.

I didn't know there have been case reports of naegleria linked to rinsing with tap water. Boiling seems esp important if using well water (since non-chlorinated and higher risk of contamination) or if it is summer/warm outside (it typically lives in water temps ~85F). Even though it is ultra rare, the fatality rate from infection is essentially 100%.

Oxymetazoline (brand name Afrin) is typically not used for more than 3-5 days as it can result in dependence, inflammation, and rebound congestion when it wears off (rhinitis medicamentosa). That said, since a tiny bottle has lasted you two years, I suspect you are using it pretty sparingly. Preferred OTC options for long term use would be a nasal steroid (Flonase) > second generation antihistamines (eg Zyrtec).

If you like neilmed check out Costco - by far the best deal.
