If you use FrogPilot (works best for GM cars), it makes the driving experience much more pleasant on long highway drives.
There is a mode where the lateral control will keep you in the lane while you can still use the accelerator/brake or one-pedal. If you have an older model, it can still do it but you'll need what's called a "comma pedal" to make it work.

Tesla Autopilot Linked To 13 Deaths, Hundreds Of Crashes In New Investigation
Now, less than a year later, it's been in the car for 8K miles, with about 7K of those engaged. Another family member daily drives the car, which is at 24k miles, or that number would be even higher. I'm a big fan now, so while I may now be a bit biased, if you decide to get it, you might find it tough to go back, even if you only keep the car for a few years.
EDIT to add that even though my car supports it, I rarely use the complete stop feature in true stop and go traffic due to how big of a gap is left and how slow it can be to start rolling again. But in the case of a 22+ civic, that's the car's "longitudinal" control/adaptive cruise not the comma.
Let me break down your argument:
- The base parts cost of $575.
- This will be marked up 0%.
- There will be a $0/0-minute physical install, and that's before flashing.
I feel like you've never paid to have car work done before... Like ever. If you did it yourself, absolutely $575 OTD, but if you go to any mechanic it will EASILY go over $1K based on the pricing you yourself provided. Your argument is that mechanics/dealerships work for free, which isn't my experience.
I'll repeat. "Honda doesn't mark up their products. If it's on Hondas website for 575, they're not charging you 30% more for it.
Reflashing a ECU is an hour. Even at 110/ hour, its still not 1k. Dude got ripped off if he paid 1k, there isn't anything the Comma would do to the ECU that could fry it. It's an ancillary software, nothing kernel, so it doesn't change anything."
I'm happy to let you talk with a close friend who owns multiple large dealerships from MB, BMW, Toyota, GM, ETC.
If you can go online, to Honda's website and order a part, why would they charge you more for the part?
I never said anything about labor, assuming its plug and play with a software download, it's not a huge labor intensive task.
575, an hour of labor, tax. Pretty easy to calculate it. Even in this hypothetical, likely false situation, it's not a problem a comma could cause. (Look at the post just above where an oddyssey owner uses it.)
Also, doesn't the built-in Kia lane follow assist keep steering engaged under 32mph? Are you saying that this system affects that and so cannot keep it engaged below 32mph?

Here is my story. I have both Tesla M3 and 2021 RAV4 XLE. We drive 6 hours to our condo in Panama City Beach from Cumming GA every other weekend. Do a quick map search you will see 1/3 is high way and rest is local. I personally touch the wheel drive for less than 15min total. Comma do just about all the driving.
First time I used it (pre covid) was on a raining day. It completely sold me.
My wife trust comma driving more than any human driver. She can sleep in the car now.
Most people seems to know Autopilot. I would say the biggest difference is steering wheel nag. With Comma, you don't need to touch the wheel every 30 seconds.
Like Tesla, Comma update is software with new features frequently. The focus has been on city driving's turn by turn features like FSD. For example, it can read speed limit, stop and stop sign. Automatically go after when traffic starts to move. Compliment car features really well.
Give it a try, it's risk free for 30days. We've got over 20 families on comma. My son use it for his daily commute so he can work in the car.
Would love to see them license this to car manufacturers. I'm looking to see if this would work on RV when I retire next year.
FYI- The hat promo is dead. I'd never wear a hat with a comma on it anyhow.

The system does not disengage under 32 mph, but rather it just just fails to steer. but the adaptive cruise continues to work. So you just put your hands on the wheel and steer the car when the Comma warns you. Also they are able to automatically resume after a stop. So when your are behind a vehicle, and everyone comes to a stop, my Niro would need me to step on the accelerator to resume, now with the Comma i don't have to do anything, it will just resume.
