Does anyone know if the ANC blocks out background noise where you're at when you're talking to someone , or just background noise interfering with your ability to hear the conversation. I can never figure out which it is. I need something that will kill background noise on my end so those I'm speaking to can hear me (example, block out tv in background).

The mic is pretty good while making calls. had the TV in the background and others could hear me clearly. But also the background noise (TV) was not that loud.

I am coming from a Bose Quietcomfort II earbuds. I think they are on par on the ANC front for me. The biggest drawback on the Bose is that I can never get used to the silicon tips; same thing with the Apple AirPods Pro earbuds.
These things vary so much from person to person. I am just happy that these AirPods stay in my ear and are way more comfortable than any AirPods or earbuds that I have used. Don't know if long term they will hurt my ear as there is no rubber/cushion.

I love these. Granted anc on these aren't as good as pro, but pro is plug type buds which is not suited for everyone. I cannot keep plugs in my ear for long time and they don't fit well for me. However these airpods blackout continuous noise like in airplane cabins, or lawnmower noise. I can leave them on whole day and my ears don't hurt.
