Is this one of the worst mint mobile deals?
Best of Mint mobile deals are in the past. They got their subscription numbers, found a buyer, and got the company sold. T-Mobile is likely not going to throw around buy 3 month, get 3 month free type of promos, but I would be glad to be proven wrong.

Yes, that's pretty much all I ever used Mint for. Be sure your phone has a good battery/charging management feature if you'll be leaving it on a charger 24/7.

This sim deal has a thing called "Recovery Fee $5.63" 19% junk fee built in at the end, that should be added to OP and also has this becore normal everywhere? definitely takes away from the deal. That's a hefty cut for nothing

I looked into it a bit and it's a junky as it sounds. Like when the rental car companies wanted to "recover" the fact that they have to pay rent for their building. What BS. Boycott this crap
I paid around $7.9 recovery for 3-month trial, and I did not know about it after making the payment

Eh, so far for me Mint has been 10x better than full-feature Verizon and this is the plan I already use...free month is fine with me Smilie

I've had them for about a year and haven't found much reason to switch.
Where are you located

I've had Mint for two years - service came with a Pixel I got from them.
The service has been good.
As long as an area has service I'm good for video and all that.

My issue is the endless fees that come with buying a phone from them, and from renewing.
Every six months I get the $12 recovery fee added-on when I extend coverage.
When I bought the Pixel from them the extra fees were almost $50.

My Tracfones never charge me those fees in any dramatic way.
I buy a years service and thats it (I have 17k minutes in rollover)
Of course Tracfone sucks for data ($10 a GB) but I dont use data with them - I use the Mint.
Mint data is pretty good as far as the isolated cost.

If I went new to Mint I would BYOP and not buy a phone from them with all the fees

I think he is referring to the recommended way of having a google voice number as your primary number to take advantage of these deals. Your gv number will piggy back on the mint number you get with every deal as a new customer. After you exhaust the deal you thraw the sim away and get on a new deal with a new number while your primary GV number is intact.
Problem is some banks doesn't allow VOIP number like google voice

Getting a disposable Google Voice number for the port-in is really simple and will cost you only $3. Here's the step-by-step from a Pixel 7 Mint deal last year, which also required a port-in.

1 - Pick a Google account you own that doesn't have a GV number linked to it (or create a new Google acct)
2 - Go to voice.google.com and log in to that Google acct. I prefer an Incognito window here to make sure I'm only engaging with the preferred account.
3 - Select a GV number... I used my home area code and perused the list of available numbers, settling on one that looked good.
4 - Select it, verify it by using a mobile or landline. (see note on this below)
5 - Really important.... set up a PIN!!! Settings > Voicemail > Enable Call to Listen > Enter a PIN
6 - Unlock the GV number so it can be ported: Settings > Account > GV Number > click UNLOCK
7 - Pay Google three bucks
8 - Wait for confirmation that the number is unlocked

Then at Mint:
Phone # is the GV number
Account # is also the GV number
PIN is the PIN you set up in Step 5 above.

The important note from Step 4.... the phone you use to verify here (via text message if you're using a mobile or via a phonecall if using a landline) will be DISCONNECTED from any other GV number you may be using and will be linked to the GV number you're creating here. When you finish up all of this and have successfully ported in to Mint, you'll want to go back to whatever prior GV number you have an re-link that mobile/landline back where it belongs.
