great for fast prototyping, incredible print speeds but i looked into I think the previous model and it had reliability issues - as all 3d printers do- but what an amazing piece of technology to toy with if you like that kinda stuff. id buy in a heartbeat at this price if I had money. will definitely buy their next models as they work the kinks out.

its kinda scary the level of tech available at consumer prices, i cant imagine what the future holds.

This or a Bambu Lab A1? How is this company's reputation for reliability? The A1 seems like a solid choice all around. The speed on this is tempting, but is there any other reason apart from speed to get this over an A1?

Getting my feet wet on 3d print. Which 3d printer should I start with that reliable and priced reasonably? Are their filaments easy to source?

The stated speeds on these newest batches of FLSUN printers are far overstated. I'd choose the A1 on sale right now over this, and you'll have multi-material.

For those looking into the printer, be aware that FLSUN was caught both paying for positive reviews, and bot comments posting positive sentiments. While that doesn't necessarily reflect on the printer itself, a little skepticism should be applied when looking through reviews and comments.

Bambu lab's main selling point is ease of use. If you want something that you download a file and click print, then the Bambu lab will be better. If you don't mind optimization and need speed, go with the Flsun.

I had an A1 and an older Flsun V400. Didn't have major issues with either one. However, to get the max speed in the V400, I had to optimize the settings for each filament or just print slower. The A1 just works, but I ended up trading it in during the recall.

Got my feet wet 4 months ago. I would highly suggest nothing else but Bambu Lab. Extremely beginner friendly but also endless potential… great realizability and easy to use.

I would suggest Bambu lab A1.

I have a Lotmaxx shark v2 and a Ender 3 s1 and just got a Bambu P1S…. I would stick to Bambu or creality. You can't go wrong with either. If you're just starting out and seeing if you want this hobby you can find a refurbished one. And filament is everywhere. Amazon eBay or direct from the company. Stick with PLA until you get good with it the move up from there.

It's a pretty looking delta, but it's a delta. I'm no expert but I've had a few printers and if someone's starting out in the hobby, I would not recommend a delta for a first printer. They're neat but they're finicky. For this money, get a Bambu.

Honestly, filament is relatively easy. Especially if you're near a micro Center. But you can order it from most large online marketplaces and there are plenty of companies that sell online too.

I'll give a slightly different answer to a great starter printer. I use the Flashforge Adventurer 5M and I think it's a wild good value. What I like about it compared to the bambu printers is it can be customized if you get really into things. The ease is pretty close at the onset, but I think you can learn more with a flashforge if you want to.

The new 5X was just announced if you want to wait a month or two with the option to have 4 color printing.

My advice: buy from Microcenter or Amazon. 3d printing has a learning curve and easily undo-ing a decision is valuable. I have had MC pricematch to Amazon and to manufacturer sale prices.

I own a FLSun V400. Best printer I ever owned. Very fast, excellent quality straight of the box for PLA but other materials needed tuning. Prototyping in 20 minutes vs. 3 hours is enormous. Quality is excellent even at high speed. $369 for an upgraded version is a steal. The V400 is quiet and reliable with excellent online community support. A less obvious benefit of a delta printer like these is the footprint; mine sits on a small table that would never fit a bed slinger or XY system and yet has a large print volume.

I have never owned a Bambu. They seem good but the 3d printing world is so polluted with compensated reviews and fanboys that the proof is always in the owning IT's also true that almost every printer improves significantly after the drivers and profiles go through a few releases and early reviews can be pessimistic. I would consider something like this for my first printer if I were not engineer: https://www.microcenter.com/produ...3d-printer

Given those two choices I would say A1. BL has a solid reputation. I don't think they are the only good option out there but they certainly are always a good option. The worst thing I can normally say about them is I don't like the extent to which they want users to create accounts and share data with the company (something more and more I'm really disliking). You can't get a software update from BL without creating a log in.

For similar money I'm a very big fan of Flashforge (yes, I own one and have been very happy with it). FF just launched the 5X which is there core XY printer (5M, 5M Pro) but with a 4 color changer attached to the side. Compared to the BL A1 combo the FF is a bit faster, takes up less desk space (the BL multi-color unit sits beside the printer and takes up a good bit of space while the FF mounts the spools on the side and takes up almost no additional space). Currently the 5X is $50 cheaper ($400 vs $450) if you are willing to wait. However, the BL is a known good product (the FF 5M is known good but no 5X reviews yet). The BL has a marginally bigger build area (220 vs 256mm squ). If you want to spend about $400 now I would go with the A1 combo. If you can wait until the reviews are in the FF 5X might be the better option and almost certainly the $400 price will drop.
