Thanks. Not sure if Kasa is the best ecosystem, but it's the one I'm already in. I have one plug with energy monitoring that I move around to different appliances when curious. Good to have another one so I can leave it on the basement dehumidifier.

Yes. You set them up in the Kasa app and then you can use them with Alexa.

I have 30 of these around the house. They work great with Home Assistant. It can be used in automations, so that you never need to use the official Kasa app at all. And the energy monitoring stats can be linked into your Energy Dashboard to track usage.

Same. Went almost all-in, since previous homeowner had 4 or so switches, and I didn't want to swap them out nor use multiple apps, if I was going to go with something else (yes, yes, I know… you can use HomeAssistant and then just have "one" app).

But in either case, no issues so far. I would say that the only regret is that it uses WiFi 2.4GHz which can saturate your 2.4GHz if you have a lot of stuff that also only connects via 2.4GHz (ie Eufy cams, smart locks, etc). If I had to start from scratch, I would look into Lutron; mainly since most of their switches doesn't require a neutral wire (a BIG plus) and they have their proprietary comms, which at first glance, may seem like a pain, but it helps when it comes to potentially alleviating saturating your 2,4GHz wifi channel

I have the older generation of these smart plugs. On these newer plugs have better wifi connectivity?
