I wonder how effective something like this is. I wonder how it works? Interesting it says 1.5 years and not permanent.

I have the older mode of this. It does work, very slowly. The thicker the hair, the more stubborn it is to temporarily remove. I say temporary because if you stop lasering, the hair will come back within a couple of months. It uses heat in a small area and basically roast the folical by transfering heat down to the root of the hair. Thicker and patchy areas will hurt on the highest settings but once the hair grows back thinner, it doesn't hurt. I am male and was somewhat hairy. I've done it to my leg hair, and private area which is now hairless, but needs to be zapped every month to prevent it from growing back, otherwise baby hairs will start growing again . It took a good 10 months to be fully hairless down there.

A session for lower half of the body will take about 30mins or so. The device itself starts to run hot after 5mins and will slow down the number of laser pulses to prevent overheating the device I guess. That is why it takes so long per session.

Also some areas require you to stretch out your skin so the device detects the surface area, otherwise it won't even let you pulse the laser. Also you want to do it before shower because when you burn hair it makes your room and skin smell like well burnt hair obviously. I tried my beard area but I think it's too thick and was really painful at max settings, medium setting didn't seem to work. Maybe with high pain tolerance and persistent it would work but it didn't bother me enough to stick with it.

Overall I think it was worth the $400 I spent. I feel alot cleaner without lower body hair, it also use to rub my pants which cause thigh acne. But just know it requires alot time, a bit of pain at the beginning, and you gotta zap every month at a minimum if you want completely hair free.

Hope it helps for those thinking about it!

Agree I'm sick of shaving my face (man) and would love to not shave daily. 40 years of shaving get annoying the older I get.

I'm a male. Agreeing with everything said here. Saved me from writing an almost identical post. Thanks!

This technology is nothing new. There are a slew of them on Amazon that all work the same and for MUCH less. Search for "IPL hair removal". What sets this one apart is the unnecessary WiFi/BT and app. These devices are glorified camera flash bulbs that you press against your skin and press the button once the capacitor has charged up enough to trigger the bulb flash. The light it flashes is intense and hot, so there will be a minor sting. It is essentially burning the hair at the root with this light/heat. However, since it is NOT a laser, penetration is not as deep (heh) and this is not as permanent as laser treatment. Choosing between this or a similar product and a discounted Groupon for laser hair removal is up to personal preference and your own patience.

As a man, I bought this to permanently remove facial hair and I haven't really noticed any benefit despite doing it even more frequently than the instructions say.

Also worth noting, it's not going to work on gray hair.

Decent deal, I paid $440 plus CB back in May for the same one. Wife is happy with it.

So, it probably wouldn't work on the white fuzzies appearing on my chin (female) as I get older?

There are much cheaper options for at-home IPL, although sessions may take longer. Efficacy should be similar since the tech is the same; the difference being laser size, speed of flashes, ergonomics, etc. I would try a cheap one first to see if you can stick to a routine long enough to see results.

I recently purchased an open box Braun IPL Pro 5 on eBay for less than $200. The box was damaged but the device looks brand new and included both laser heads. Might be worth looking into if this one is out of your price range.

So this isn't going to work for my wife's beard? I don't mind it so much, except it tickles sometimes
