Got this last time. It's a neat little unit that I think… ugh, I wish Tascam had better software support for across the board. Their software is kinda not the most awesome and at least a few years dated, and in need of some love.

That said: I state this not to bash; it's an awesome little unit and perfect to get started and outgrow from. After much much research across many products (Audient Evo vs ID lines, PreSonus, FocusRite, and more), I actually landed on the Tascam Mixcast 4 as my upgrade and this massive beast (to me from the mini studio) was entirely intimidating and then turned out to have amazingly intuitive on board hardware UI to handle so much of what I want and need to do.

This is an amazing little gateway audio interface!

Yeah, when I recorded music in the 80s and 90s, TASCAM was where it was at for mechanical recording. In the last 20 years I feel like they were outsourcing software and firmware development as they really started going down hill once the digital age hit.

Yeah, it might have started out more expensive, but the market is kind of flooded with entry level podcaster targeted audio interfaces and their layout is very podcaster specific based on broadcast gear. A market so flooded and niche that prices are dropping on things like this.
A lot of people are podcasting with more "traditional" audio interfaces which only adds to devices like this sitting on shelves.
Having said that, it's probably good for the price.

I have an older version of this. It is pretty fantastic for the price. It isn't as clear as more expensive units, but it can even drive a SM7B in a pinch. There are a lot of options out there, but at 48 this is pretty attractive.

I currently have a Motu M4 that drives 2 SM7Bs, will this work the same? I only do podcasts.

Looking to start up a 3-4 person podcast. Looks like this only has 2 mic inputs. Can I use two of these together (or is that dumb)? Or should I look for something else?

Can this do voice changer? If not, is there a hardware device that can do voice changing?

I'm seeing an additional 10% discount. Looks isolated to Texas and musical instruments and accessories, according to the coupon terms. Would come out to $43.20 for me.

I'd look for something else. This will handle 2; even if you can USB both into the same machine (which I'm guessing you could) I think this would undersell what you need.

That also said, many many podcasts last a few episodes. Maybe start small and see how it goes before steeply investing.

Yes, it has voice changing capabilities and modulation on it - at the very least, in the software. I find it to be... basic, as most of those effects are. The real value is in how you EQ the voice, IMO.

Thanks for this information. I figured it was probably not a good buy for us, but wanted to make sure. And yeah, no clue if we'll "make it" so best to keep the budget minimal.

I can't find the list of effects anywhere... I'm not podcasting, just looking for a way to add reverb and delay to vocals for jamming w/ a band. This would be cheaper than buying two pedals.
